I thought I knew what it was like to be scared.
I know a little better now.
On Wednesday my wife had a massive tumor removed from her abdomen, on Thursday my employer filed for Chapter 11 bankrupcy protection.
It looks like my wife will survive, I can only hope the same is true of my employer. The thought of loosing my Health Care Insurance at this point has absolutely boggled my mind.
Pathology reports will determine if her ordeal is over or if it has just begun. The courts, creditors, and press will determine if my employer is to survive.

Sorry to here.
My wife was diagnosed with two aggressive tumors while I was unemployed exactly one year ago. She is now tumor free and I'm back at work. Somehow, people survive.

Wow, Cranky, that's a lot on your plate right now. Know that we're in your corner and keeping our fingers crossed.

Maybe this is the time to show we are a community here. Lenny, I'll bet I'm not the only one here who will step up to the plate if and when you need help.

When you think things are going bad, real bad, it is time to count your blessing. After 72 years, I found this to be nothing but the truth.
Many prayers sent your way...

That's horrible. And unfortunately there are many more Americans going through something similar. I do hope your wife is well and everything else resolves favorably. My hopes are with you.

Hang in there and take it one day at a time. This is easier said then done, but you shouldn't worry about things you can't control. It just tears you up and makes it that much worse. All of us are pulling for you and the wife.

Best of luck, Cranky . I take it you're in the photo industry ? I was as well , running retail processing and equipment outlets until 2004 . Your situation is not unique nowadays , but as a member of our community , we're all sending you our thoughts and prayers for successful resolutions . It is good to hear good news on your wife's initial prognosis . We all wish you the best for the future .

I heard the news on Eastman Kodak on NPR yesterday.... what a bummer. And the wife's illness on top of that! FWIW, I'm pulling for you man. Try not to let it get you down.

Sorry Cranky, that is scary. If worse comes to worse and the firm closes won't COBRA let you continue your current insurance until the health care law switches over to no per-existing conditions? That is 2014 IIRC.
