You'll need to pay dues to the club organizer but I accept Paypal.

Just kidding. It's free. You can gold- plate your account but you don't really need to.

Posting to Strava seems like it would be like riding naked.

In!

I've been using Strava consistently since they opened it up to more than 5 uploads/month. I like having all my riding and running stats in one place, and collecting PRs and QOMs.

As has been pointed out, our club, now 16 members strong, has by far the best looking logo of any on Strava.

Dude,

You *should* put a link to your Strava club in your BF signature.

I signed up for Strava about a month ago, and I tell ya, it turns every little ride into a "contest"...discovered several segments on my commute routes, and it inspires me to crush my newly found opponents...

This will be fun!
If you still have your data on your GPS, you can upload old rides. Or, if the .fit file is on your computer, you can still upload it.

I like the segments feature. I have one KOM, just a short little climb. Don't tell any of the youngsters in the area ... I had a pretty good wind assist that day.

It appears you need a GPS computer to use Strava. That leaves me out until next year...

I'm in from Groveland, IL. It will be awhile before I start adding rides due to knee surgery but I hope to get some in by the end of the month.

I just posted some GPS data you shouldn't believe. I left the unit on during the drive home. My 27 mile gravel road ride at 8.6 mph posted as 57 miles at 19.7 mph

I have a new game. I check my fellow 50 plus strava posts, and see how many times I need to zoom out on the map before I can tell where they are in this great big ol' world.

I lost interest when I saw the line "compete against friends." I'm done competing. I'm more interested in cooperation these days.

No need to take it as a competition no matter how they choose to market the thing. I see it merely as a way to share our rides with friends. No competing on my part.

You have no friends here so you should be fine.

Just kidding.

It need not be competitive. As an older bent rider, the only time I'm KOM is if I'm the only one who has ridden the segment.

The nice thing about the segments is, if you are concerned about times and stuff, that it is more accurate than the final "average moving speed". My average moving speed is affected by how many people are concerned about whether I come to a dead stop at a stop sign. As I have 3 miles of residential riding until I hit the open road, my average moving speed is not very helpful.

OTOH, last week my legs felt good and I went after one of my training loops and cut something like two minutes off my previous best for a 5+ mile loop. I felt pretty good about that.

But there are times you just have to rein it in and forget about setting all time speed records.

That's what I love about it the most. Seeing where other people in my area ride gives me new places to consider for myself. Places that I would not think of otherwise. And, even if on the same area, new routes.
