Hey Strava users

Those of you who have Strava accounts are welcome to join a new club: BF 50 plusers. The location is Louisville, if you need that to look it up. The pass code is my year of birth, 1952.

If you have privacy concerns, you can set your account so it won't log within 500' to 2 miles of your house, depending on your level of paranoia.

It's fun to keep track of people's rides, and it helps me to stay motivated.

Enjoy.

Wow, 5 members so far, including Arizona, Texas, Georga, and old Kentucky. We need a couple from the Coasts to round things out.

I'm in ... I think.

On Strava, if you have any interest in following Lance Armstrong's riding and running, he goes by the name of "Juan Pelota". The guy still rides a lot.

A cool thing about the program: using Google street view you can see what terrain other folks ride. I looked at one of the rides from Arizona, and you won't see scenery like that anywhere in the Ohio Valley. I'll try to pull up a photo of the 50 plus jersey and post it as our logo.

With all these flatlanders we might have some trouble when they have a miles climbed challenge, but whatever.

I'd invite Juan Pelota, but I don't think he's old enough.

Hmmm, obviously an inside joke. Pelota = "ball," so "Juan Pelota" could be construed to be "one ball." ("Juan" does not mean "one," it just sounds the same.)

At the top of page click Explore, then Clubs tab on page that opens up. I signed up today, also.

Yep, we got our own emblem and everything. Some of you guys are putting out smoking numbers.

The location is Louisville only because I was the one who set it up. In reality we got it covered from the Southeast to the Northwest, and even some foreign countries like Texas and Kentucky.

OK! I'm in. I've only done short intervals this week. Why, oh why was this not up for my 8000 feet of climbing day just a couple of weeks ago? I'm new to Strava, but I have 41 hours and 500 miles for February, and I don't log my bike commute.

This will be fun!

Not much posted from me lately. I have been riding a bit, but mostly MTB which I don't track with GPS. Looking forward to posting much more often in a couple of weeks when Daylight Saving Time starts.

I just signed up for some absurd challenge on Strava which would require me to ride about 50 miles every day for 45 days to win a freaking water bottle, but I thought it would be fun to see where my climbing total stacks up among the 50+ group, so everyone sign up for the Specialized Classics Challenge.

I went to a bike store today and bought me a water bottle. That should save a lot of climbing.
