Why can't "they" make a water bottle that doesn't leak?

Humans have developed the ability to send man to the moon ... and bring them back safely. They can probe the deepest depths of the ocean basins and cure most diseases that plague the surface of the earth.
Why can't the powers-to-be make a cycling water bottle that doesn't leak?

Quit using the gimme bottles from your bike store, mass events, etc. My Polar bottles don't leak.

Ditto on their Podium Chill. It's my bottle of choice now, after years and years of everything from basic bottles to Polars. I even had a Columbus tubing logo'd bottle with the kind of pop-off cap shown in Snydermann's photo. I'd forgotten all about it. That really takes me back.

Cheapo bottles are great for everyday riding. I get at least one of them every time I do a charity ride and now have a bunch of spares. However, on long distance rides, I like to use my Polar bottles as they keep the water and electrolytes cooler longer.

Only bottles I have had leak were the "FREE" ones given out at events. But I don't pay a fortune my mine either. Just ordinary Plastic bottles that catch my eye in the shops. Must have at least 20 now.
