I thought I knew how to walk up stairs
This really pi$$es me off. Been riding the bike now for four weeks and keeping an eye on what I eat and doing pretty well. So tonite we go out to eat dinner with the family and as we are walking up the stairs I guess I hit the step and start to fall. My hands were in my pocket so I could not grab the rail and I landed on the edge of the step with my left upper theigh. I got a real nice bruise that's throbbing right now and it's probably going to hurt like hell when I get on the bike tomorrow. At least I can still walk outside or on the treadmill. I just found an email in my box from The Scooter Store, I didn't delete it just yet.

Third step from the top -- that's the one that always gets me.
My bedroom is upstairs, and when I get home in the evening, my legs are usually a little ragged; that step always seems to catch my toe, but I never have hands in pockets going up, so I can catch myself.
It happened often enough that I started focusing on extra care going upstairs, and it only happens a couple times a month now.
Sorry to hear you got banged up a bit.

Are your stairs all exactly the same height? It's not too uncommon for one to be off but usually it's either the first or the last step.

Last week I walked right into the butt-end of a railing. I was distracted and going fast and hit it with a lot of energy right in my quad. I don't feel your pain, but I felt mine. It felt like I had broken my leg.
It didn't bother me too much when I rode though. I hope your soreness goes away fast.

Oh, just wait. In a couple of weeks the bruise will migrate to the lower leg and look real pretty.

At least you were walking UP the stairs. I worry more when going down the stairs. I never have my hands in my pockets on the stairs anymore either. Used to be able to but just don't feel comfortable anymore. Hope it feels better.

Actually, the significant difference is my LEG LENGTH INEQUALITY, at least 1".

I was pushing my stalled riding lawn mower last week, up a slight incline, when I had a "POP" out of my right calf. For a while I feared for the worst, a torn muscle, but it turned out to be only a pull. A tear would have kept me off of my bikes for months. I've been taking it very easy, 6 days now and it is healing pretty well. I iced it several times that first afternoon.

You made out better than I. Below is post from last October that my wife entered while I was in the hospital:
This is Mrs. (don't know my DH's user name) anyway, he has two herniated disks, one of which caused him to fall backwards down the entire stair case (this Oct. 15) luckily he had his bike helmet on! Still he fractured his shoulder and banged himself up in general. However the real problem was the excruciating leg pain from disk herniation. Finally taken to hospital by Medcu on Thursday. Hopefully he will be dismissed today.

Good news! Got on the bike when I got home from work today and it's not to bad. There is some pain on the down stroke but, the worst of the bruise is father to the left of where the seat hits. I only rode up the street since it's kinda cool and very windy here today. We actually ate dinner at Skyline this evening, had me three cheese coneys. YUM

I grew up in Delhi Hills and have a brother who still lives there. I've a friend who went to college across the river and we've been talking about a road trip to Indy which is the nearest Skyline.
