OT: Some great stats...

Just thought I'd post some great stats which are captured by an iPhone app I have.

Since quitting smoking a while back, I have:

Gone 24 days, 20 hours, and 50 minutes without a cigarette.

I have saved $137.77 so far.

I have not smoked 497 cigarettes.

And, although the app doesn't track these things, I have hardly any craves any more. I'm going to remain vigilant, but I do feel that I've moved a long ways from the smoking group to the non-smoking group.

Yippee!

Congratulations, and keep it up. I just passed the 35 year smoke free anniversary a few days back. I think I might have it pretty much licked.

Congratulations. I know how hard that can be and what that means while you are doing it. April 30, if I make it, will be 24 years since the last time I got drunk.

Now all you have to do is to keep it up for 1 more day.

Haven't smoked one since 1976 but once in a blue moon the thought of a cigarette seems appealing.
Stay vigilant, my friend.

DG,
Keep it up! Yer doin great!! Watch out situations where you most often used to smoke. Stats say those are the times when you are most likely to find yourself with cravings. Smoking is a habit connected to other behaviors. If you used to smoke after meals then that is when it will hit you. If you used to smoke while having a beer, or pie....

Stay strong!

Congratulations, Gary! Stay the course. Although I never smoked, both my parents did, and both paid heavily for that particular addiction. My father died from lung cancer (as did an aunt and an uncle), and my mother suffered from emphysema for about a dozen years at the end of her life. Thus, I am thrilled whenever I hear of someone quitting smoking.

Thanks, everybody. It's certainly the best thing I've done for myself this year, and that includes bringing home Mrs. Jones!

With whom, by the way, I had my longest ride of the year so far - 16.22 miles. I know that doesn't sound like much to many of you, but it's steady improvement for me, coming back after 2-3 years out of the saddle. When I got Mrs. Jones, a 5-miler was just long enough to get a workout. Now it takes me 5 miles to get warmed up!

AND, I haven't smoked for 72 1/2 years. At a pack a day, and perhaps an average cost over those 72 years of $1.50 per pack, and not smoking one pack a day, I think I have saved over $39,000 dollars.

And, that's not even counting the missed MD's appt., COPD treatment, etc.

Heck, I guess I should buy that new bike after all.

Just kidding, Gary. Congratulations!! Keep it up.

Definitely one of the best things you'll ever do for yourself. The improvement is dramatic. I'm going on 9 years and cravings have not been an issue.
When I smoked 10 miles was an awfully long, epic ride. I did my first century last July.

Way to go Gary, this has been a great year so far with Mrs. Jones coming into your life and now quitting smoking. You are on a roll now.

Stay vigilant, my friend.
I quit for 10 years and started yielding to the temptation to have "just one" and it took 10 more years to get off them again. Like Lay's potato chips you can't have "just one"

Good man, Gary! The first year or two can sometimes be rough, but you can do it. I did 10 years ago last month. I thought I'd be rich by now, but at least I'm healthy.
