Well now I've gone an done it.

I signed up for the Deer Creek Challenge Century. More climbing than I've ever done before and I'll be doing it on my own. My regular riding partner will be at another event. Call me crazy if you will but for some reason I just wanna get that jersey.

Cant find one on the site. The jersey for the Century is slightly different than the event jersey as it states that you completed or finished the Century and not one of the shorter routes. Not that those are anything to be ashamed about. And it's FREE if you make it.

Now we now the real reason for you not doing a shorter route.

Just take those hills a bit steadier than usual- Don't mean slow but think about them. No pushing on for a few miles before the slopes- recover once over the top before using energy to get down the other side--And enjoy the ride.

Color me impressed! I did a ride last November with half that much climbing and while my max speed was 43 mph my avg was closer to 12 mph. But then again my avg climbing for 50 miles is less than 500ft

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but the beer wasn't that good. At least none in our party of 4 liked it. It was too dark, bitter and heavy as a post ride brewski.

I might add that when I did it, I had just flown up the day before from living at sea level for a number of years. The altitude had less an effect than I expected. I just got winded faster and went a bit slower.
