Something to do for your 100th birthday

If this has been referenced before I apologise - the search function is still down so I can't easily check. However, I have a new hero.

In February this year Robert Marchand, a Frenchman, celebrated his 100th birthday by setting a new hour record for centenarians. he covered 24.251km in the 60 minutes.

He's showing signs of age, though. Recently he cut his daily maximum distance to only 100km, saying "there's no point in going overboard".

Salut, Robert. I'm going to try to be like you when I grow up.

Thats actually a decent pace. Thats about what I like to commute at to keep the effort minimal and make it easier to clean up when I get there. Hope I can do that when I'm 100.

Thats pretty cool, his quote

he must really enjoy work...

Not planning on breaking his record, 100YO dude setting records, I'm falling apart at about half his age.

If I wake-up and take a breath when I'm 100, I'll be surprised. Depending on my physical condition at that age, I may be happy (or not-so-happy).

On current trends, more than one-third of the kids born this year in the UK will live to be a hundred. I aim to be waiting for them.

I gave M. Marchand's record a try this week. He's pretty fit. Keeping my HR below 110, as he did, I can't go much faster than him.

I certainly won't mind reaching 100 if my quality of life is what it is now at age 57. My late Father lived to 93 . . . the last couple years of his life weren't so pleasant.

My philosophy: I prefer "quality of life" to "quantity of life":
