And I don't know why I am so pleased about it as this was after a climb that caught me out. Shows the Post Office/Shop/Cafe. and is one end of the high street. Cafe was closed by the way as everyone was at Church

and shows the other end of the high street and the other notable building in the Hamlet and the publican offered to serve us a cold drink or make a coffee but there would have been no Pie.

This mornings ride was with Mick--My neighbour and he has just fitted an 11/28 to enable him to get up hills after his 12/25. The cassette works and I am glad my Retirement is paying dividends as I did aswell. Garmin packed up after 12 miles of the 27 mile ride but around 3,000ft of climbing (And descending) and average of 14.3 mph. (Taken from Micks Computer) Brilliant sunshine although it was a bit cool and a wind that we met occasionally of around 5 mph.

Well, a cold drink or coffee without pie is something to consider. Do we indulge in the beverage or ride on in hopes that pie will be found later? Nice photos.

Stapfam--I'm going to venture a guess and say that's a WWI memorial in the center of the town/hamlet. And what is a high street, or is it High Street?

It was but most villages have a War Memorial that serves for both World Wars. Some now have additional names of those that have fallen in more recent Action. And Typo Error without putting Capital letters where they should be.

Reminds me of some areas around where I used live(ages 14-18--even funnier is that I was born in Sculthorpe England(but was only there for 6 months). Just an FYI, I lived in Hemingford Grey(about 13 miles from Cambridge). Most of the villages around where much larger than the little Hamlet you show stepfam. Interesting enough, Hemingford Grey was right next to St Ives, but not the St Ives that everyone thinks of when people mention that name.

Long ago I was in England for a Trans-Atlantic sailboat race - OSTAR. I was only there for two weeks but in that in that time I received extraordinary help by a British soldier, home on leave, adopted by a naval officer and his wife, who at the time were living on a yacht in Plymouth and provided a home away from home, had my own boat tended to by a repair yard which would accept no money. Every Brit I've met from Newport, Rhode Island to Bermuda, locations which seem to be on the migratory paths of sailing Brits, have been great shipmates, drinking companions and plain fun. This has left me with a strong desire to spend much more time there. You photos point out to me where such people stem from. If the world does not end in the next few years, I may just pack up the bike and panniers for a long Summer on your home turf.

I know of folks who have traveled this general area, staying at bed and breakfasts. They loved it. If I ever have the time/money/permission from wife, I would love to cycle the area, going from one B&B to another. Maybe Stapfam as a tour guide? Just a thought.

England is so beautiful.
A number of years back, my sister was invited to the wedding of one of her in-laws. Her (now ex-) husband could not go, so I went with her. We were just going on & on about how beautiful the country side was and how quaint the old houses & farms were. Her mother-in-law kept telling us we had our "holiday eyes" on and it was not really all that great. But, she was wrong, it really is lovely - thanks for the photos stapfam.

Like everywhere- there are some places that stand out and this village of "Waldron" is one of them. Plenty of places over here that I just do not notice and plenty I want to pass through very quickly.

And Remember that Hosepipe ban we have over here due to the drought? 2" of rain today and the rest of the week looks like similar weather. Have to drain out the wifes pool tonight before it overflows.
