Got my new baggy shorts

I posted here a couple months ago to get opinions on a new pair of baggy-style shorts for my more casual riding (paved and limestone rail-trail stuff -- not MTB riding).

What I finally got last week were Zoic "Ether" shorts at REI, on sale for $55 from their regular $79 price (the sale is on thru the 28th if you're interested). A very nice-looking, quality item with the features I was most looking for: removable liner, decent pad, lots of pockets.

I've worn them once so far on a 45-mile outing and was very happy with them. They are definitely an upgrade from the old Novara "Exposure" double shorts that I'm replacing. YMMV.

So thanks to whoever it was here who recommended these!

Good shorts and I love their sales. I got my 20% off email on Monday. I get there this weekend.

I found a tick under a sock after a ride a few days ago but not attached. I bought a spray bottle of tick repellent, Permethrin, at REI yesterday. At check out I found I still had a bit of money left over from the co-op dividend and and there was a discount coupon available on the repellent.

By the way, you are allowed to wear black socks with baggy shorts.

Me too. I have a set of lightweight, off-white cargo's that are very comfortable. No padding and no gel. I used them for a century ride last summer and also wear them on 95deg rides in high humidity.

I like my spandex for exercise rides and I like my baggies when I need lots of pockets. Each has it's place.

I have to wear specialty recumbent shorts with zipper pockets when I bicycle. I tried wearing regular cargo shorts but I kept dropping important stuff like my car keys and cell phone out of my pockets.
