Deja vu all over again.

Way back in my running days I went to the start of an organized event. They had three different start times, 1 for 11 min/mile runners, 1 for 9 min/mile runners, and 1 for 7 min/mile runners.I was in shape to run 10 7 minute miles so that's what I decided I'd do. When the 9 minute runners left the parking lot, I looked around to see who was left. It was a bunch of real skinny fit-looking guys and me. Needless to say, I worked my way to the back of that pack real fast.

This morning I went to the start of an organized ride. I was able to hang with them for 5 or 6 miles or so, but as soon as we got to the hills it was adios Retro Grouch. Deja vu all over again.

Thursday I'm going to ride with a different group. They call themselves "turtles" and "turbo turtles". I think that I may be turbo turtle speed. I've ridden with the turtles before and they were too slow for me but that was before my injuries. We'll see how it goes. It would be nice to find an appropriate group to ride with while I'm off work this summer.

I thought you were going to report another fall. Sure glad iisn't that it's hard to find riding chums that are a good fit.

Squadron VT-2 at N.A.S. Whiting Field had a running club called the Tortuga Striders with a runnong turtle as the mascot. Their motto was "Start Slow and Taper Off". I loved running with those guys.

Still looking for a group to ride with.

Yesterday's weather forecast for today wasn't good. We actually only got a skosh of actual rain, but what rain we had came right when the Turtles ride was supposed to start. I talked to the only couple who showed up couple for a few minutes and we decided to drive home. Maybe next week.

Tomorrow the levy ride is posted again. We'll see how it goes.

I did ride today but only about a mile to the hardware store on the "Black Ops" beater bike. Since I've gotten used to the 152mm crank on my recumbent the 175mm crank on the beater takes a lot more range of motion. I definitely felt it in my hip, but I suspect that it's good therapy. I should probably do some longer rides on that bike.

I am still looking for a group to ride with too. I always get dropped in the hills. Groups that are slow enough in the hills are to slow for me in the flats.

Me too!

There are several active clubs in my area of SoCal (Ventura County) but most of them ride on Satudays... Which doesn't work for me.

But I enjoy riding solo so it isn't a big deal, but it woul be fun to try sometime.
