Oh my, I'm blushing now, you should see what a size xl Marine looks like with a red face. Don, the pics from the ride look good and Doug, you pretty much look just how I thought you might, beard and all. Who is the young man with you?
Yeah, I believe that chicks dig the uniform but the younger group says they dig scars. I may have to ride with a midriff someday and really thrill them, front and back. Zippers and button holes everywhere.

Way off topic. Does your Mirrycle "jiggle" when you're riding? I had mine on the bar end on previous bikes, but the jiggling on my current bike precludes its usefulness. I have the parts to mount it on the STI shifters, but can't for the life of me figure out how it is supposed to attach. If yours is pretty solid, maybe I better take another look at the mount and try it in the position you use.

It does NOT jiggle one bit... works perfectly. A little dorky looking, but worth it, especially on a road ride with a lot of other riders involved. You need the road version and it only works with the 6500 or 6600 Shimano. No 6700 version is out yet. LINK

Volosong, That photo features many aspects that make it an artistic triumph: beautiful scenery, beautiful bike, handsome man, and an element of mystery in the randomness of the folding chair in the background.
Billydon, Your photos display a certain verve and joie de vivre (as well as your rugged good looks). Well done.

miss kenton, my ego has been appropriately stroked. Bless you. I'm good for about three weeks now.

Why, yes. Yes, I am pleased. There are few things more delightful than a man confident enough to post a photo of himself knowing he risks being judged by his peers, moreover, post a photo of himself while not attempting to deny his true age.

I had not even noticed that chair... it is kind of an interesting element...

That picture was taken several weeks ago at the top of a series of switchbacks leading up to a KOM in the Tour de California. The chair belonged to one of the spectators waiting for the pros to arrive. After getting my picture taken, I headed further up the road to watch the peleton come by.

Well, apparently I've lost at least some weight (or girth, maybe) since my 50+ jersey seemed not-so-tight this morning. I still have a way to go, but I'm encouraged at least. Here's the required shot:
This was at the conclusion of a very nice early morning ~25 mile ride today with a couple of friends. Low to mid 70sF, blue skies, negligible wind... can't beat that.

Len,
The 50+ jersey looks great on you! Isn't this unexpected cooler weather on the Gulf Coast great. The calm before the July and August humidity and hat fest we know and love so well here.

Thanks!
Absolutely! My grass needs mowing, but it'll get done late today, probably around 6 pm or so. Still, it's not forecast to even break 90F today, whcih is unheard-of only a week from the Summer Solstice. It IS the calm before the storm...
Should be a great weekend. Tomorrow is not only Father's Day, it's also our 23rd wedding anniversary. It kinda stinks that I have to go into work at 6 am tomorrow, but we should be done before noon (hopefully, since we're going 'out' to eat... hopefully). I wasn't scheduled to work tomorrow, but something popped up and then a co-worker who was scheduled to work discovered he had to be out of town, so I'm filling in for him. I guess I could be unemployed, so maybe I shouldn't complain...

I always used to really enjoy the annual Mildew Fest, the Pine Pollen Fiesta, as well as the Sunburn Emergency Rodeo of course!
