My pants exploded!
A few years back I bought a pair of Giordana bike shorts, the following year I bought a second pair. Well the first pair seems to have lost all its elasticity instantly and you can actually see where the fabric seems to be falling apart, it has happened almost instantaneously. The second pair is looking like it is on the edge as well. I threw the first pair out. I sure wish shorts would last as long as shirts.

I've been using PI Attack shorts for quite a while and they look as good as new. My oldest pair is over a year old and for the amount of riding I do, it's had it's fair share of washings.

I like Giordana shorts but I also found they don't seem to last very long. I stopped buying them because of that.

On the Bacchetta forum someone posted a video they took with an IR camera on a group ride at dusk. The IR made any well-worn cycling shorts translucent. The images were deeply disturbing.
Dont let your cycling shorts get too much wear.

Dudelsack, T.M.I. my man. What I just do not want to think about while riding. Hope no one scans me, some of my riding shorts are 4 years old!

Good luck on getting onto an airplane next time you want to fly! I am sure that the Dept. of Homeland Security is already onto your exploding pants!

Supposedly the IR setting on some Sony Handycams can "see" through certain types of clothing.

When I saw the the title of this thread, the Muy Grande Burrito at the Mexican restaurant, down the street from me, instantly came to mind.

I only wear compression shorts as undies. old baggy shorts go over that. No human should be subjected to the sight of me in skintight clothing. Ever.
In an aside, I wonder if the "exploding pants" keywords have triggered the Homeland Security search bots!
