On The Road Again!!!
Greetings Guys!
Just got my "new" Craigslist bike (2000 Giant Option Hybrid) back from the LBS and then I installed new tires and tubes. Then went out for a 7 mile shakedown ride. Bike rode like a dream. I have not ridden in 10 years. Back then it was mostly off road stuff in our area. It took its toll on this 57 year old body. But now I want to work on fitness and strength and that stubborn 5 lbs of fat around my waist.
I can't tell you how great it felt to have the wind in my face again. A nice feeling of Freedom..... I did remember pretty quickly to get my butt off the saddle when riding over bumps.
Hope to see some of you who live near Tampa, in the future...

Glad you are returning to cycling Jim (fellow dawg fan!) and are enjoying it. Welcome to 50+ if we haven't already said it. We now need pictures of your bike in the N+1 for 2012 thread and BTW, what kind of PIE do you prefer after your rides, sir? Oh, don't forget to schedule your colonoscopy!

Thanks Bill. Will get pics up soon. A big slice of Pecan warm with vanilla ice cream. Got scoped last year. Good for another 9. BTW, where is Cantonment?

Jim,
Warm pecan pie and No-fat vanilla ice cream (is this one okay Stap?) sounds great. My wife makes one for my birthday every year. Cantonment is just north of Pensacola, in central Escambia County. We are about 2 miles from the Alabama-Florida state line. Northwest Florida.

Just reading about Pecan Pie makes my blood sugar spike! Plus, pecan pie is huge in the calorie count--both in fat and sugar content.

So what?
Just the right food for a 50+ ride- but should be taken on the ride with mileage depending on the size of the slice of Pie.
