Day late but not dollar short

My sister bought some furniture at an estate sale and I was lassoed to help load & etc. When I got there I spent a while wandering around looking at the remaining stuff. In one room were a bunch of shoes but one pair looked interesting, "Hummm, Shimano road bike shoes" I thought, "New looking and for $15 bucks I'd jump all over them but size 42, nope, but where's the bike?" Well, I found out. From the not very bike savy folk running the sale the following points:

-Trek
-Carbon
-New, just bought
-"Curved Under Bars" i.e., road bike
-Sold yesterday
-$650

"Just Damn! Can you get it back? I'll give $750!!!!!!"

Based on the shoe size, it probably would have been too small for me but still-----

My last miss was a 70s vintage Raleigh Montana touring bike w/ panniers, fenders & racks on Craigslist. It sold for $40.00 fourty five minutes after it was listed mid-morning on a weekday. The seller realized that he had vastly under priced it by the time I called him after I got home from work.
