Here's a twist on car/bike hit and run

It was the bicyclist who tried to run. From today's Pensacola Newspaper

excerpt: "A witness said the cyclist hit the van and then attempted to flee."

Shock, the rider may not have know what even happened after the impact, even a minor impact like that can throw you of balance, and the rider doesn't look to be in too good a shape with the EMS guys.

Strange happenings there Tom, sad to see the bad part of bicycling. Hope he isn't hurt too badly but he deserves to be prosecuted just as we would want a motorist to be. I'll be interested to know the outcome of this accident. Barrancas, towards N.A.S., has a lot or bars and dives, possibly a drinking while cycling incident?

We have some truly determined drunks here RG. Seriously, you could well be right and that is a good possibility. Just that I know the area and a true dive place is just west of where the accident occurred. He may well be just shook up and scarred so he decided to run. My brother is a Sheriff's deputy, LT, in patrol division so I'll ask him when he comes over tomorrow.

I wonder if that might have had something to do with why he ran into the minivan.

Carl Taylor? OK, maybe it's an alias for Carlos Tijarina, but I doubt it.

More likely theory is that he was suffering from a zombie bite. A few more hours and he would have tried to drag the poor lady from the van and started consuming body parts. It's not a coincidence it happened in Florida. It seems to be the epicenter of the preliminary stages of the zombie apocalypse.

I agree.

"Zombie" A tall mixed drink made of various rums, liqueur, and fruit juice.

That's not what I had in mind.

Anyway, when TSHTF, you should be in good shape. Bents are the vehicle of choice.

Here's my take. When you are dazed, instincts take over and his instincts were to flee. I suspect that this guy isn't someone we (most of us) would call friend.

+1

He hit a stopped car at a red light broadside. How do you do that sober?

Talked to my brother this evening before I went riding, the guy was drunk, as I suspected. I know the area form coming and going out to N.A.S. Pensacola and the guys on bicycles are usually D.U.I. or totally suspended licenses. An LBS up the road moved into town to get away form the bars that rule the area.

+1. I used to work in an LBS that had a number of perpetually drunk regulars. They were a constant PITA.
