The whole world has a health problem.

As of this morning I was in top 7% of all riders (almost 6,000 world wide) in the current Strava challenge. Sounds pretty good - until I tell you I am 73 years old. And I am not that good of a rider, with a little over two months riding in this bike life!
Retired 75 YO. Got my sub 5 ET century at 50 and sub 7 RT at 75. Just want to finish at 80. USNR, USAF, USCGA - riding 2014 Zenetto Steath ZR7.1 Carbon

I agree, but almost half of riders are from other countries. One would think bike riders represent healthier percentage of overall population.

No, Strava is not the whole world -- but it sounds like the OP did pretty darn good no matter how you cut it.

    So, to the OP: Congratulations!
... And, keep pedaling -- next month you might make the 95th percentile.

Well, unless some of the old farts from this forum decide to compete: some of them are pretty darn good.

But, whether it is the top 5% or the top 95%, it is great that you are riding. Even though you must be in pretty good shape already, cycling will get you into better shape.

Everybody gets to pick their own poison.
Mine currently is a 2 km walk up a 200 m high hill with 22 kg of barley in my backpack.
When I get tired of it, the ducks in the park will get a good feeding.

Most of the people on Strava are at least riding. Their health is not the problem

My goal is to ride into my 70s. I'll probably have to forego technical singletrack and bombing downhill mountain biking but I see no restrictions for road riding. Carry on!

What's Strava? (That's a rhetorical question; you don't have to answer.)
    Real cyclists use toe clips.

    Excellent point . . .

Riding at 73!! Great job, keep it up! There's a lot of elderly people riding bikes, and some of them are monsters. It sure is better than the "walker/wheelchair/powerchair/nursinghome/everyonehastowaitonyouhandandfoot" option. Ride Free!
