Any other BF 50+ers riding Six Gap

I'll be riding my first Six Gap Century this Sunday. Anyone else from here planning to be there?

I have no time goals, just to finish the ride without walking up any hills.

I sure wish I were joining you. Maybe next year?? You'll do fine. Five of the climbs are actually nice--I did feel Hogpen and was glad I had my 32. Some folks hit 55-60 mph coming off Hogpen so be careful there.

It seemed like I was either going up or going down all day. Great route!

a past friend of mine did a similar ride in Vermont and he said he loved it! but he would never do it again.

Saw your results on FB. Congrats! I'm not sure I'm man enough for 6 gaps, I'm trying to get ready for the "Horrible Hundred" in November. Last year I walked so much I should have been wearing hiking boots

This year the goal is to not walk. I'm down about 40 lbs and in better shape than last year so maybe I can stay on the bike

I've never gone down to ride any of the Gaps even though it's not that far. Every year I entertain the thought of doing 6 Gap but the timing never works out. I hear it's a great ride though. Be careful coming off Neal's Gap as the 3 Gap riders have to slow to turn while the 6 Gap riders continue going down the hill. I've heard of accidents happening there. Also, as JPPE mentioned, the backside of Hogpen is very steep. A rider died there during 6 Gap after losing control. I hope the weather is great for your ride. My friends that do this ride most every year say the weather makes or breaks the event. On a nice Fall day I would think this ride is hard to beat. Have fun!

EDIT. Doh! My internet has been down for 6 days so I guess this ride is now over! Well, good job then! lol

One heck of a tough ride! But I paced myself and managed it with no real difficulty. Hogpen Gap is every bit the beast that everyone says it is. Amazing to see that some completed this ride in a little over 5 hours. I was happy to get in under 11 including just over 2 hours at the 9 rest stops. The weather was about perfect. I'd hate to do this one on a hot day or a rainy day, especially descending Hogpen. That was scary enough on dry pavement.

Very nice! Looks a lot like the terrain in Tennessee for the Harpeth ride last June, only hillier. Alas, no suffer score to record for posterity.

A real man would have added the out and back up Brasstown Bald! lol. Looks like a well organized ride. It's probably the most iconic ride in Ga. Great job getting it done!

I'll have to talk my brother into coming back down again next September. We've only done it once but it was one of our favorites. I really enjoyed all the ups and downs except for Hogpen. That hurt!

I saw 3 other finishers on the results from Milledgeville---are those the fellas in your picture?

(Good luck in Columbia this weekend. That could be a season maker.)
