I Did It! How did you do?

Finished Strava Scratch Labs Challenge with a few miles to spare. The really amazing thing is I managed to fininsh in the top 6% overall. It was fun and motivated me to ride harder - almost didn't even try as I did not think I could ride 455 miles in two weeks.
Let me tell you older riders are a tough bunch. 1/3 of the 65 and older finished the challenge in the top 5% of almost 8,000 riders.
RIDE ON

Congratulations!

I wish I could do that. I get closer to it every week -- but I'm still a long way away...

I suspect to have worked hard to be able to get to that point? Have you had a training regimine or schedule?

Amazing but no. Riding less than three months and believe I am not in great shape - yet. Was kinda serious rider over twenty years ago, averaging around 5,000 miles a year so I generally know what to do and not do. Being retired and more time to ride makes abig difference.

I missed that memo . . . what was (is?) the Strava Scratch Labs Challenge?

Was there a memo here on 50+ that I missed? What did you have to do to qualify?

Go to strava.com, join - free, and look at challenges.
Strava is a place to record your rides - keyboard entry or from android/iphone and some cycling or running gps devices such as Garmin edge 500.
Link to my ride yesterday.

Scratchlabs sponsered last challenge that ended friday. Objective was to ride 455 miles in 14 days. It was fun for me trying to figure out how to ride an extra 10 to 15 mi per day for two weeks. Then doing it and trying to work my way up in the standings by riding more miles. About half of riders from US. Overall leader, Kingsburry from NY accumulated over 1,600 miles in 15 rides and second place was less than ten miles behind him. I really enjoyed the chance to compete and check my skills with almost 8,000 riders around the world.
Miles accumulated at end determined your finishing place in the standings.
