Last posted in June. Did I miss anything?

So why haven't I been around?

Meh...

Who cares! Life's little twists and turns, I suppose. Not much cycling. Why visit when I'm not riding?

But then, I'm still not riding much, although thinking about changing that. Just thinking.

Anyway, so what did I miss over the past five months or so?

Actually you missed all sorts of stuff, nothing of any great relivence except for a few births of grandkids and a few folks retiring and a few bikes being bought.

I read your posts pretty regularly, so sorry I didn't notice your absence, though I did note I haven't seen Chipcom in a while. Anyways, since you asked...

On June 1 this summer, I was hit from behind on my bike, on a wide, lightly traveled and well-lit road while wearing blinking lights and a reflective vest, by a hit-and-runner, who came forward the next day. I sustained a pelvic fracture and a soft issue injury, and was off work for three months. That left a pretty big void, since I was on track for a 5000 mile year.

I did keep up with Bikeforums, especially Fifty-Plus, though I have less material to post. Nonethless, I'm still keeping alive the proposal to have the Fifth Annual Fifty-Plus ride in the Metro Boston area in 2013.

It's been 239 days and 45 minutes since I quit smoking. I've saved $1,324.24 and avoided smoking at least 4,780 cigarettes. So yes, I'm still off. Thanks for asking!

Surprised you didn't feel the effects of it but I doubt you would on Pitcairn.

But the big news is that Cranky Old Dude has stopped work. Finally had enough of cycling into work every day as it is wearing out his bikes and has decided to rebuild his fleet of bikes so that he will have a bike to loan you whenever you want.

50+ is like a gigantic broken record. Stay here long enough and you hear the same things again and again. (For those of you 50 or less, a record is something we used to use for entertainment, consisting of an arm, a needle, and amplifier or big bell horn and a turntable playing this amazing large disc with grooves that magically turned into music or other sound. Sometimes the grooves got worn or scratched, and it would repeat and repeat and repeat). Five months is the exact time for a total repeat, so, you didn't miss much, except, I turned 73. Yesterday!!!

Nothing. Winter's coming, hibernation is beginning, the cave door is being shut.

Summer: Pedaling, pie, sleeping. Repeated as needed. Complain about saddles as needed.

So, are you just passing through, or are you intending to hang around a bit? Should we keep the porch light on for you?

You missed the Fall Photo spread, where we all posted pictures of ourselves standing naked next to our bikes. Too bad you missed it. We all looked like David Hasselhoff in his Baywatch prime. j/k
