Nice. Which Defy is it? I have the 2012 Defy 1(Aluminum with carbon forks, carbon seat tube, and 105 components(I did change out the seat and the tires)).

billydonn 11-11-12 07:30 PM

Veloacquisomania.

jmccain 11-11-12 07:33 PM

A dry chain can be quite expensive.

Yes it is that Model 2012 Defy 1 $400 off the marked price so ended up $950 aus ,and the bike shop even threw in the lube for free..

Very nice. You're wife is not going to let you out again....

I don't know, I think he should take it back. He didn't ask us all sorts of questions as to what type of bike and which material and what brand he should buy and many others that come to mind. Now go and ride the wheels off.

vschippy 11-11-12 09:49 PM

Well she's only got herself to blame she started this cycling habit off.
We where out for a sunday stroll and all these people where passing us on bikes. she said we should give that a go.
Next week walking through shopping centre passed a bike shop and she said lets go in and have a look.
Walked out 30min later with his and hers bikes. lol

Did something like that about 6 mo. ago. Went to the LBS for something I can't remember and bought my first Cyclocross bike....a Raleigh RX 1.0. Have to say I absolutely love this bike.

Every time I walk into my LBS I plan on doing just that. But then reason gets the best of me and I walk out with only the real stuff I needed.

Nice looking bike. My wife started my addiction, as well, by getting me a bike for my birthday. She is also into cycling, so she really doesn't complain about what I spend on it since she spends her fair share as well. I took my Giant Defy 2 in to the LBS for a Retul adjustment fitting and ended up with a Colnago, so I know the temptation involved in getting an N+1. Enjoy it and ride it till it falls apart.

Bill,

You should start buying your stuff online as we don't want to see you move. :D

David Bierbaum 11-12-12 07:55 AM

I never walk into an LBS with enough money to do anything other than what I came there to do. :D

rdtompki 11-12-12 09:28 AM

I'm doing the same thing the day after I retire. I am in urgent need of a mountain bike.

gcottay 11-12-12 09:41 AM

Nice bike but the garden could use some attention.

Best wishes for great spring and summer riding.

AzTallRider 11-12-12 10:22 AM

Congratulations.

There are advantages to being 6'6". I can go into the bike shop without fear of finding something I can't resist on the rack.

zandoval 11-12-12 10:35 AM

You are going to love it...

RubberLegs 11-12-12 01:13 PM

Free LUBE job alright!!! :-) I haven't bought a new road bike since 1978! My wife would argue that I have purchased MANY now bikes....but that is not true....Old and used doesn't count! (my newest is an 02 FELT-85 with STI)

mapeiboy 11-12-12 01:23 PM

There is this really nice Colnago C59 Bike in my LBS . I know Mrs. Mapei will puts me in a dog house for a long time if I

mapeiboy 11-12-12 01:25 PM

Dumb finger , Anyway , if I ever bring it home . She does not understand why a bike like C59 can cost upward of $12,000 .

vschippy 11-12-12 01:48 PM

Will take some better Pics
Went for a 30k ride yesterday arvo.
Was very windy usually would suffer pretty bad on the hybrid.
This bike made so much easier.
Thinking the whole time while riding, why haven't I got one of these sooner....
First thing i did when i got back was get rid of the it seat was terrible.

I have the same problem. I'm only 6'4" but the small town LBS I have doesn't keep anything over 58cm in stock It's probably saved me a fortune:lol:

Take your time on the saddle issue. When I first bought a road bike I kept swapping saddles 'cause my butt was killing me and my buddy kept saying" How many miles do you have?" and I would tell him 300 or 400 or whatever it was and he would say "it's not the saddle it's your butt, keep pedaling" Sure enough after about 1500 miles my butt quit hurting:lol:
