The side roads were a little interesting while going to the store and the post office today,

but the hills were well sanded. I don't usually ride in anything more slippery than this. The snow and ice does not last long.

Unseasonably warm here in central PA. We've had a few mornings in the twenties (farenheit), but it's been rising to the 40s during the day and even some days in the 50s. When things hit the teens or lower, my milage drops, and I usually have a week at the beginning of winter where I have to adjust to heavier tires with more tread. I usually wait until there's actually snow on the ground to drag out the Nokians. Winter riding is a challenge, but I like it. The coldest ride I had was a couple of years ago near Albany NY--actually near Athens, which is along the Hudson. Five degrees when I got back to the house, so I don't know how cold it was when I left at 7. My perspiration had wicked to the outer layer under my shell jacket and turned into frost. My feet felt like bricks.

They were! What makes them interesting is that I am running 28 mm Continental Ultra gatorskins.
