Forgive me, for I have sinned...

Picking up on GeorgeBMac's comments on another thread, the 50+ Confessions Thread is now open for business.

Sin without fear. What is confessed within the Thread remains within the Thread. But there is no responsibility taken for the lightning bolt that may strike ye down at any moment afterwards!

------------------------------

Mine?

I am looking with more than passing interest as cycling's Dark Side.

I am considering competing in a sprint triathlon in 2013.

To compound the sin, I have resorted to my first-ever gym membership and have started running and cycling on machines, as well as swimming in a pool instead of the ocean.

Welcome to the Dark Side. Once you understand the addiction, err, I mean the power of the force, it will transform your way of thinking. Before you know it, you'll be cycling without any socks, peeing in your bike shorts so you don't have to stop, and looking at how aero your water bottles are.

And the good part is, when you get to the 60+ groups, a lot of times you place and get a medal just by finishing.

OK... Well, here goes...

In ADDITION to wearing underwear under my bike shorts -- and then pants over the bike shorts... (I guess I left that last part out in my first confession...)... I ...
.. and this is hard to admit (sob) ...
I opened up the treadmill yesterday and I have switched over...
... The bikes are staying warm and safe and clean in the basement instead of out in the snow and the cold (and, by the way, so am I...)

Group Century? Is that where a hundred riders each do one mile?

I don't own any spandex or a helmet. I know, I know. You knew a guy who would be dead or severely brain damaged if he wasn't wearing spandex.

Happy New Year. Or is is New Years?

Or, if you don't, then you should read this about what happens to you when you get a brain injury...

Please, please. not another helmet thread. I can't stand it. (For newcomers, the subject of helmets is VERY touchy for some folks, has been debated forever, and there is a thread in A&S pages long devoted to the topic. "This is the only thread where a discussion of the pros and cons of wearing a helmet will be discussed. Others will be locked or deleted". Please go there for your thoughts and debates.)

Forgive me brothers and sisters for I ... ... considered owning a modern CARBON FIBRE roadie.
My darling fiancee offered to give it to me for Christmas. Fortunately, my innocence was saved when she realised she couldn't afford the thing.

All this talk of treadmills, triathlons, group centuries. carbon fiber lust and underwear worn on top of shorts - or did I read that wrong? - must stay within the confines of this thread.

Me? I reset the odometers on my bikes to zero even though there is still one day left in 2012. Wimping out because a little ice/snow/slush on some of our roads? Don't tell anyone.

Looks like you'll need a Cervelo P5 or similar triathlon/tt bike to add to the stable.

Ssshhhhhh! The goddess sitting next to me doesn't know my devilish plan yet.

Actually, it's just a dabble at the moment. The Merlin C110 Works can probably do the job; I have some bullhorns and bar-end brake levers plus some bar-end shifters, and Machka I think has some aero bars, so the conversion shouldn't be too hard. I don't think I will bother with the bent-forward seatpost, however.

Sorry, but who is the sinner here? You for having irreligious thoughts, or your fiancee for not having the cash to deliver?

You know you don't have to confess the sins of others, don't you? I think you should send your fiancee to confession so I can discuss her errant ways with her.

Forgive me, for I have obtained entirely too much pleasure watching Romo throwing 3 interceptions. If he wouldn't have under thrown the last one, the receiver would still be running.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. George, you have been a wicked man, now haven't you. What will the Flat Gods make of you in 2013.

You redeemed yourself with that very witty retort, but you still must do penance. Let me think... hmmmm

ANY SUGGESTIONS OH YEA CONGREGATION?

Just a moment, I have to check the sin list to see if gloating about the outcome of another's bad luck is eligible.

Just refresh my memory -- which team do you root for?
