Can we plan a gathering without discussing legal matters?

I'm willing to start a thread to discuss a gathering. There is ample interest for a small group to gather near Dodgeville, Wisconsin in June.

I would like input from the group concerning when to hold the event. I'd also like feedback that improves the experience for people who have an sincere interest in attending.

However, there is no need to discuss any issues with anyone who cannot attend.

Any discussion of legal matters can be done via PM.

Can I open a thread without the political gridlock?

I'll add a poll to help plan the best date. Democracy without chaos is my motto.

I'm willing. I'm very interested in this ride or something similar. If my schedule and training go right I'm a potential participant. However, I can't commit to participating at this point.

I don't particularly care if it's an "Official" 50+ ride. I just think it sounds like a good ride and a good idea. June sounds real good for this. I'll have an Ann Arbor event in early to mid-July.

That might be an ideal time. Why don't we use that date as a preliminary target.

Oooh, that would be tempting since the school will have ended by the 14th of June.

Just to clarify;

This would be a gathering. Bikeforums does not provide any involvement in ANY event of any kind. They are not associated in anyway with the events or meetings discussed here or elsewhere.

Any discussion of what is known as an "official" event is false and misleading.

The event would start in Dodgeville at 10am on a Saturday. At 10am, an easy one hour ride would start. We would meet up again for lunch at 11:30. The morning ride would terminate at the Pleasant Ridge Store, this is a tavern that serves meals. Any late arrivals could start the afternoon ride from the Pleasant Ridge Store. The afternoon ride would depart at 1:00pm.

We would meet for dinner in Mineral Point.

Sunday, we will start from Blue Mounds and two routes will be offered. After 3 hours of cycling, we will meet again for lunch. Cyclist can depart after lunch or stay on to enjoy a Sunday afternoon ride.

Can't very well make it in June. I can do it in late August or September by tying the ride in with a trip to IL. Otherwise the logistics just don't work for me. BUT, if I'm the odd person out that is OK.
Last year, in August, a group of BF Classic & Vintage cyclist gathered at Dairyland Dare. I'll be attending the 8/10/2013 Dairyland Dare event, along with whatever is planned in June.

Huh.

According to Google maps, getting there by bike from the Amtrak in Milwaukee can be done mainly with four MUPs.

Not that I can afford it this year, but it's nice to see such infrastructure.

Yes, Wisconsin is pretty well built out. Back in the early '70s they built a cross-state trail called the Wisconsin Bikeway. I don't recall exactly what its endpoints were, but something like Milwaukee to LaCrosse. I think a lot of it was unused railways, an early Rails-to-Trails.

Michigan is planning to build out a cross state and N-S network of trails, but we'll see how that goes.

Mrs. Mono and I are considering taking the tandem for a week to 10 days to Trempealeau county in late June or early July. Lots of mapped out routes with literature, paved low traffic roads, short but ugly hills, and bike friendly. At least, that's the propaganda.

Can you join in with us on the 22cd & 23rd? It's about a 2.5 hour drive from La Crosse, WI.

Maybe. My stoker is still teaching kindergarten. She tries to schedule most of her in-service and CE hours for June, the earlier the better.

So for us, the later the better during the month June.
