Sorry ... I should be more clear.
My grandfather apparently spent many years as a truck driver, and came to believe in road angels or "angeli della strada." Sometimes, they were manifested by another truck driver. Sometimes, a state trooper or a motorist flashing a warning with their lights. In one of my recent apparitions, it came in the form of a fly:

And sometimes, we're the angeli de strada ... whenever we stop and offer help.
That gray-bearded Spanish gent that gave him the wheel ... the one that looked like his father ... he would call that guy an angeli della strada.

The cynic in me keeps waiting for the April Fool's comment.

Hmmmm. . . I think it is only because so many of us have an incredibly cynical attitude towards the UCI and the world of competitive cycling in the early 21st century that there is danger people see this for anything but hilarious satire.

Last fall, when the tidal wave of evidence was overwhelming Lance Armstrong, the Wall Street Journal had an article that looked at all the top ten finishers in the TdFs that Armstrong won to see who, if anyone, was really 'clean' and truly deserved the yellow jersey (about 50 riders total). They found one rider, I think it was a Dane, who had never been assocaited with PEDs in any way, had always tested clean, and had never been accused on using them. Just before the TdF he had gotten promoted up from the team's 'B' squad and through luck, had managed to finish something like seventh place.
