Sigh. After just missing us to the South and to the North, the last winter storm finally hit us. Now my cycling is curtailed due to shoulder snow. Hurry and melt, you! It sure made the trees pretty for a day though, with their blossoms of snow...

We were basking in warm winter temperatures the past two days. Yesterday was the second annual Hains Point 100, last year around freezing, this year in the 60s. Got rain and mist for much of the ride. I rode just over 100 km at the event, and 103 miles for the day.

Looking across the Potomac River to Reagan National Airport.

Not quite the white Christmas we hope for, it's all ice on the forrestroads so I had to go down to the sea to get some riding done before the big Christmas dinner. This is the 2004 Tsunami memorial, 84 Norwegians died.

Henry Moore's Standing Arch, great sculpture IMO.

My club's New Year's Eve gravel grind. We opted not to cross the creeks this time as the water was high and fast after recent heavy rain.

Sounds like fun, though the ride leader really should consider doing a little more route scouting ahead of time.
