It's not that our area is without its own charm.

rumrunn6 03-18-13 11:10 AM

the roadway and road paint looks like US

so where are there rolling plains with mountains in the distance? ...? midwest not too far north and not too far south ...?

Biker395 03-18-13 11:11 AM

The shape of those distant mountain peaks actually kinda give it away. :)

jppe 03-18-13 12:01 PM

Mountains=Tetons??

Biker395 03-18-13 12:24 PM

Ding!

Those are canola fields between Ashton and Driggs, Idaho. Oy, what a beautiful place to ride a bike.

rumrunn6 03-18-13 12:28 PM

awww was gonna do a 2 week mountaineering trip w my Dad back in '85 to the Titons but then his Dad (my GP) passed away and it was postponed many years. My Dad would later go w/o me. Looks glorious. :-)

Biker395 03-18-13 12:36 PM

Jackson Valley is amazing. What I didn't expect was that Teton Valley on the other side would be so awesome too.

Great pictures! But the fat tires are under-represented so I'll throw a few out:

The last one is near Smith Rocks, north of Bend Oregon (that's me in the photo). The first two are West of the Cascades...Mt. Constitution on Orcas Island in the San Juans. The 3rd is on Mt. St. Helens (that's my wife with Mt. Adams in the distance). Very yummy Mountain Biking out this way.

I passed through the Smith Rocks area on one of the Cycle Oregon tours I did some years ago. Oy.

395,
The bike in your picture is on the center of the far left side of the pic, on the roadway?

Bill

I don't even remember knowing they were there when I took the picture, but I think so. The road just twisted and wound around those hills. What a gorgeous place to ride.

Here is another from Idaho ... I think at this point, we were rolling out of Dubois.

Henderson Rides group sliding into Lake Las Vegas for a coffee break! weather was @75 on Saturday.

David Bierbaum 03-19-13 04:27 PM

A photo of the day! This morning, it was 24f, but it felt nice anyway, when I took my bike out for my pre breakfast exercise ride. It felt so good, I decided to stretch my errand ride this afternoon, and went up the Confluence trail for a bit. I discovered that they finally finished the walkway to the roof of the Great Rivers Research Center, where they have a viewing platform. Thus, I took a pic! This kicks off my new season of wandering and snapping pics! ;)

Edit: I reworked my initial rush job, to have a better color balance in the photo. Sky looks bluish instead of cyanish now, and the stop sign doesn't have a weird glowy effect anymore, thanks to DeLaboratory and The Gimp.

I supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow, but I got a great long ride in Monday up Mt. Diablo.

Which one are you, or are you the one behind the camera?

How do you guys take pics while riding? Where do you stow your camera? I have two organized rides coming up and want to take pics and record the event. I plan, note "plan," on making a ride report.

When I am "carrying", I carry a Cannon A720 Powershot in a ziplock bag in a jersey pocket. The ziplock keeps the camera [hopefully] rain and sweat proof.

That photo was taken with my Samsung S3 phone. The camera is 8 mp. I was taking the pic. In the prior picture I am the tall guy in the red and blue jersey. JR Namida is tall guy on the right. He posts here from time to time. That picture was taken with a GoPro.

I like riding with a camelback-Mule. 100 oz water and tons of storage. I wrap my camera (Nikon P80) in a golf towel for "some" protection. The palm trees was a catch up point after an stretch on the River Mountain Loop around Lake Mead. The stretch included the "Three Sisters." Bad sisters, tall bad nasty unrelenting sisters.
