Awthanks, Bill. You know ... I asked a group of people some time ago what their favorite holiday gift was ... and got all kinds of interesting answers. Mine? My first bike and my first camera. I think I'm visually oriented.

Yea, I noticed! I've always wanted to do the Going-to-the-Sun climb in Glacier. Definitely on the bucket list. Was it as sweet of a climb as it looks? I drove it several years ago and not being able to stop and enjoy the view was frustrating. A bike looked like a much better choice!

It was defintiely worth something to do at least once... I did the climb from the back side which I believe is easier and then went down the front side. Many people just come up the front, see the glacier and ride back down never seeing the back side. The back side was fascinating - I actually rode through a snow tunnel. I also saw 3 bears (at different times) and a big stag. There was alot of black ice on the road which made it alittle scary but thankfully not alot of cars on the climb; most come up the front side. The ride down was thrilling to say the least... fast and scary but the views... good grief that is a beautiful place!

This photo was taken by Biker395 (Victor) but that's me in the distance. I think this is a great photo of the road, i.e. showing how twisty it really is. I think this is Glendora Mountain Road but it may be Glendora Ridge Road (Vic can verify). Hopefully Vic will post more photos from this ride, but this one is my favorite!

Here I am about the time I decided to name my new bike Ruthie, because on a lightweight 29er, Rolling Up The Hills Is Easier.
This step rise near the Top of "Huff and Puff" trail at Dauset Trails used to give me fits when I first rode it several years ago.

Thanks, Rick! Yep, that's our descent down little GMR down to Camp Williams. I just barely caught you with the camera before you were out of sight! Here are you guys climbing back up, with a view of Baldy behind.

And here's that wiggly photogenic section ... you guys almost at the top.

Beautiful day!

First ride of the year - found that the trail down one of the City's ravines that I use for part of my loop is officially closed for this wood chipping operation, still cleaning up from the ice storm just before Christmas. I was able to get through as they weren't working on a Sunday but weekdays will be more of a problem.

Whoa ... you coulda been invited!

Really happy they didn't go in reverse this year. We had a tailwind on Highway 33 heading to the fire station, a tailwind up most of the Heartbreak climb, then a rippin tailwind through Lockwood Valley ... never got through there so fast.

Beautiful spring day up here north of the 49. I apparently don't see much while I ride according to my wife, including the dead Quail on the side of the road with it's feet straight in the air. I did however see this sunflower and thought I should stop to smell the roses ... so to speak.

No riding for me cuz of the hernia surgery. And I'm now at that dangerous no-pain phase where I'm likely to overdo it. It was a beautiful day, so I took a drive in the Subie. Even with a fun car to drive, it's only about 1/10 as fun as it is on a bike. Anyway, I got a pix of our local "switchbacks."

A Sunday tradition... may favourite restaurant opened in 1942 and has been owned and operated by the same family for 62 years.

All good rides start here.
