Spring - Fat tire to studded tire to mtn tire to road tire
Spring is a succession of tire selections getting thinner and thinner as things dry out and warm up. We've had a couple of days above freezing and I road in a puddle once. Hah! Just took off my studs, put the fat tire bike up, threw on some 1.9" tires and soon the road bike with make it's 2013 debut. But just taking the studs (Nokia 294) off, and switching to a relatively narrower tire will make my transitional rides a bit quicker and more fun. Looking forward to being back on my road bike.

I've switched over from my 45Lb Trek to my 23 Lb LeMond. The tires are about the same -- but the speed isn't. But it's nice to have both. They're calling for a 40% chance of rain today -- I may take the Trek since it has fenders...

Took off my studded tires yesterday and of course today it is snowing. Hopefully it won't snow a lot and perhaps within a few days it will be gone but we haven't seen anything above freezing for a few days now....sniff...whine...

from 45lb to 23 lb you should nearly float up hills...I'll call it spring when we get a week of temps above freezing. Not yet.

I took of my studded tires today and enjoyed 23 miles of soggy gravel. The sun was out and weather was nice. Spring has arrived.
