That is a smokin' machine, Olds. What are those stickers we see on the fork and seat tube? I bet if you pop the Corsa Lites on it, it automatically drops to below 20 lbs.

Thanx ole buddy! The sticker on seat tube says "triple butted chro-mo" and on the fork says "Cr-Mo chrome moly complete fork". I like the wheelset suggestion and just may pop them on and see. Good to hear from you, I hope all is well!

47p, is that red one a Cadent? (I might pick one up at year's end).

47p2 10-20-16 05:32 PM

The red one is a Raleigh RX Team, a cyclocross bike with SRAM Force 1x11. The amazing thing is it's almost as fast as my road bikes

47p2 - This was June 2015 when I did a sportive called the 3 pistes in Scotland. 102 miles with 10,000 feet of elevation. It was 5°C, it snowed, rained, gale force winds, possibly the worst 100 mile ride I've ever done

That was a heck of a ride. You have a really nice bike collection there.

Thanks hefeweizen, SWMBO says there are too many bikes :foo: that ride was a brutal day on a bike and not one I'd like to do again in a hurry. I've got a 52 mile ride this Saturday on the west coast of Scotland, so hoping the weather is kind to me this time although the forecast isn't looking good at the moment. My problem is the only bike I have with mudguards is a single speed and Saturday's route is a little lumpy so I think another wet bottom is a certainty yet again as the Focus will be put into service again.

Here's one I built up a few years ago, but decided to sell when someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse

1999 Paul Donohue built Graham Weigh with Reynolds 853 tubing, 2006 Shimano Ultegra 6600 groupset, Ultegra 6700 wheelset, Corima Ellipse seatpost

Nice bike. I have a problem with bikes. It seems like every time I convince myself that I am going to add another to the collection. All is well for 2 weeks then I sell something and get back to my built in limited number. It's crazy. I even have a bike stand in a room with NO bike on it. I don't have the same problem with wheels. I have a spare set of Fulcrum Racing 3's and a set of Shimano RS21's in Mavic wheel bags. I even want to order another set of the RS21's just because I can get them cheap. I keep talking myself out of buying them just because I fear my next road bike will have those disc brake thingies (LOL).

47p2 10-27-16 12:59 PM

Haha, the problem with wheels are they go out of fashion so quickly, 11 speed this last/year and it will be 12 next year or the year after. I'm awaiting a new set of wheels for the red Raleigh CX bike, it was supplied with carbon tubular disc wheels but as I use it mostly on hard paved surfaces and with the prospect of having to carry and change a tub in the middle of nowhere then ride home with a half glued tyre I decided to buy some clincher wheels

Your not kidding. I just sold a 10 speed wheelset .

Strictly 1-speed for me. I'm too old to shift gears.

My offering is modest.

I'm 63 now. I traded my last road bike in in 1993 for this PDG Paramount mtb... which I sold in 2006 to a co-worker. Last year, he asked me if I wanted the bike back. I said, "Sure! How much?"

He said he wanted it out of his garage, and gave it to me! So, I had a bike shop freshen the tune, replace a bad cable, and true the wheels. I replaced the rotten tires with some narrower slicks, replaced the mtb flat bar with a 30mm offset, wider one, new bottle and bracket, bar mirror, and I was in business. The bike has a moly frame (Pacific rim) and modestly equipped with Shimano Deore and Richey components. It's been flawless for me. I haven't been on a pedal powered bike in a decade, and I'm going to fall just short of 1,000 miles this year.

Rollin' large for a little over $100!

Love my single speed bike, no gears to think about and nothing expensive to go wrong. Once the salt is spread on the roads it comes out to play
