I also replaced the steel seat post with an aluminum one, got rid of the original brake levers and put on some from Cane Creek, put on Barcons and changed the wheels. I had taken the kickstand off, but opted to put it back on. The kickstand weighs about a half pound, and I kind of like it. Front derailleur is a modern Shimano, but the rear is a nice old Suntour V-GT. Nice, comfortable bike, I've put about 1500 miles on it since I rebuilt it, and everything is working well.

1962 Phillips 3-speed (think Raleigh, who bought out Phillips in 1960).
I've had it since new, when I was 13. I'm 64 now, no one ever stole it so now it's vintage and I still have it, and as my running knees get older I've been using it more these days to commute the flat but bumpy streets of New Orleans, from uptown to work. It's original, heavy, steel wheels (40 spokes in back), they built these to last. Sturmey-Archer, Dyno-hub still works.
I am new to this site and don't know how to post a photo, but those of "a certain age" know what these "English" bikes look like--black, with white tail on the rear fender.
Also got a Klein Quantum about 15 years old, that's my "triathlon" bike back when I used to do some. As I get grayer, I use the Phllips more. And a 1980? Motobecane touring/racing bike, Shimano Altus friction shifters, grubby-looking "beater bike" that still works nicely, that's the one I hang on the back driving over to Florida for vacations.
Right now I'm trying to replace the (original but disintegrating) rubber pedal blocks on the Phillips. Anyone know where I could find some? I want to keep the original pedals and just put new blocks on.

Newest addition to our touring fleet: pristine 2010 Cannondale T2-- the last year Cannondale bikes were made in the U.S., and the last year they made a touring bike. Just couldn't pass it up.

I am not computer savy enough to post my pics. Go to Bike Journal.com and look up DAD. You can see my 2000 and 2001 Herons.

Since I have a pic - this was a custom LBS build (Bianchi/Nivacrom/Chorus) from around 1996. It (and me for the most part) had been sitting unused since around 1999.

The grocery getter/commuter - Early 80's Lotus 3000m I picked up at a pawnshop for 50 bucks. Also have a Raleigh Revinio aluminum road bike, but just for around town errand stuff, this works great. Thinking about putting trekking bars on it, just because I like fooling with stuff on the bike.

I'm 'older' also, and like 'older' bikes. Feel like a moron trying to kick the moon every time I get on a bike so here's what I 'utilize'.

I'm an "old" guy and I ride all kinds of new and old bikes. My current "new" favourite is this Salsa Vaya "Adventure Bike"

[QUOTE=Wildwood;15598809]Haven't seen a Calfee or DeRosa. The Calfee was my 50th b'day present to myself, the DeRosa is a relatively new purchase. Can't find a good pic of the '81 AD.
Rebrowsing an old thread =
It's been a year + since I said, "Can't find a good pic...". so I rolled it onto the front porch and snapped this pic of the trusty rain bike, minus the improvised mudflaps that occasionally grace the backsides of the fenders (with apologies to english folk for speaking senselessly). I only post it so proudly, in its unrestored condition, because a Seattle forum member recently rode it (although briefly) and pronounced that he was surprised at how well it was 'dialed in'. It does handle well for a tall bike, but exceptionally well above 15-16mph.
