Here is our Cannondale decorated with battery operated Christmas lights for the December 12th Holiday Lights Ride in Arlington Heights, Illinois and the December 20th Christmas Lights Ride in Elmhurst, Illinois. Lots of fun for all 20+ participants. Lots of great reactions by countless spectators.

I have two bikes right now; an Aluminum Ridley Fenix with Tiagra group set, this photo is from the day I bought it. I put mountain bike pedals on her and changes out the wheels for a set of Gator Skin 700C x 25 tires instead of the 700c x 23 it came with. I wanted the lower pressure of the 25's to put less bumps and jostles on my 57 year old arthritic thumb joints. The change along with a revision to the handlebar placement to allow me to sit more upright smoothed the ride out some.
I also have a refurbished vintage Araya Rex Deluxe that I had owned since I bought it new in the mid 70's (74 I think). The bike had rusted up pretty badly in the chrome areas, wheels and groupset so the man who repaired it for me (a great guy who owns my local LBS) stripped and painted the old chromed parts with flat black. We opted to keep as much of the original paint as possible even though it is pocked in places. The wheels had to be replaced opting for new 27" x 1-1/4" aluminum wheels and tires and the he put on a used Suntour Legend groupset to match the period of the original Suntour GT that had rusted beyond repair. I love the smooth ride of this old bike.

In post #991 I shared one of my latest rides that is not C&V. It has since been updated and is likely in its final state except with a fixed sprocket to be installed and the cables cut. I will likely index the ring one more clockwise index and maybe get a longer chain. There are some other differences too, like 105 aero brake levers, white housing and new wheel set. I decided to go with the Patriotic color scheme to go with my name so the blue tape was added along with the new blue ring (changed from 42 to 46t). And the saddle was swapped for a Specialized that was stock on the RockHopper. I decided to try the Keo pedals out and ordered cleats for my new used SIDI's. OK that's enough!

2015 Specialized Sirrus Sport. First bike after getting back into riding at age 60. I'm calling it my beginner bike now. Didn't know if I was going to like distance riding so I bought one that I could use for casual riding. After 6 months and almost 1,000 miles I'm convinced I like riding and have been saving my pennies for a real road bike.

Newbie here and just purchased a new bike after riding a 29 year old Specialized Rockhopper mountain bike all these years. It's my xmas + pre-birthday gift (59 years) to myself (wife approved). I got a 2015 Redline Conquest Expert at a year end clearance sale. It's their low end components on a carbon frame. I love it so far due to it being very quick, great handling and a very comfy (carbon frame/fork + wide tires = comfort) fun ride. I'm just doing fitness/fun rides at this time on road, fire roads, levies/canals. It might be more bike than I need but it sure is fun. So why not enjoy life, I say...

This thread's been going for a while now....my (more plebeian) rides have evolved in that time frame. The only originally posted bike looks like this now, except it saw all the other bikes here, so the Brooks doesn't have it's nose in the air anymore.

It would be interesting to know how many of the 50+ crowd ride a FG or SS. I bought the bike below as a parts donor bike for my '81 Apollo, and decided to convert the KHS into a SS. Didn't put a lot of miles on it, split between the various bikes, but it was fun to ride - even up the 7% grade hills.

We should maybe do a poll, as I'd be interested, too. The SS/FG Forum has an "over 40" thread, but that doesn't bear the "older" traffic the 50+ Forum does

Just nabbed a '76 Fuji "The Finest" frameset and beginning a winter bike build. Back in '74 there was a kid in our bike gang that bought one and no one could catch him after that. We were in awe of sewups in those days.

I have no idea what you paid for the Fuji, I read about some of the ridiculously cheap finds in the C&V, where around here an abused "vintage" bike is seemingly worth $300 to often $400.
Just make sure the Fuji knows that in the pecking order of things it will never supersede the Cannondale!

I have a wish list of bikes, but will need another garage to keep them in so it's questionable whether it will ever happen. Among the list is a folding bike - Dahon or similar would be perfect, along with the tandem, a cat trike, recumbent, fat tire, full suspension mntn bike, and the list goes on. Some day ...

Finally finished this "bitsa" bike, made up of stuff transferred from other bikes and a donated Dawes frame from a friend. I had it powder-coated and made up new decals to match the carbon fork from a Specialised that I already had. Only managed a couple of rides so far but it rides beautifully.
