Three 50+ jerseys on the Tony Serrano Ride
Today I rode one of my favorite annual events, the Tony Serrano Ride in Monroe, Georgia. The routes follow very lightly trafficked roads with gently rolling hills through rural upper central Georgia. The ride is always the same weekend as the Masters finals, so it usually catches the beauty of Springtime in Georgia at its peak. Today was no exception as the weather was perfect and the various shades of green and other complimentary colors were glorious.

I didn't get Dan's picture then and never saw him again during the ride. :( We also saw another 50+ jersey in the crowd. First time I've seen another 50+ jersey at a ride and this time I see two in addition to my own! I met the wearer and saw him later in the ride at a rest stop where we posed for a photo (that's me on the right). I didn't recognize his handle and can't remember it. Hey, I'm an old man with CRS (can't remember ****). Hopefully, he'll see this and identify himself. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8387/8...ed2d9510_b.jpg 50 plussers by BluesDawg, on Flickr I had one of the best rides I've done in quite a while. The just warm enough for shorts and short sleeves weather and the great rest stop food helped me really stay in the groove on the 60 mile ride. http://app.strava.com/activities/48640029 http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8389/8...2c427d24_b.jpg downtown by BluesDawg, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8522/8...a728330e_b.jpg scenery ahead by BluesDawg, on Flickr Pita, hummus and dolmades at a rest stop. Not your standard fare. Another stop featured peanut butter stuffed dates. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8260/8...8bf6ba57_z.jpg pita, hummus and dolmades by BluesDawg, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8099/8...139b72d4_b.jpg drafting by BluesDawg, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8126/8...2ddb458f_b.jpg country home by BluesDawg, on Flickr |
Nice photos, BD. I want to do a ride with that kind of food at the rest stops!
I am always on the look out for another 50+ jersey, especially when I ride the MS City to Shore each year. There are over 7,000 riders, and I once met up with another 50+ member, but I never see the jersey. |

Hey, that's me! Had a lot of fun on the ride, although going the whole 60 was a bit of a stretch for me so early in the season. I made it (barely) but it was painful. It was great to run in to you on the ride and thanks for the picture.

It was good to meet you, wnl256. Glad we both chose to wear our 50+ jerseys for the ride. Hope to see you again down the road. Think about coming down to Milledgeville on October 19th for my club's Deep Roots Ride.

BD, that first photo makes we want to quit my job and just ride off into where ever that road would take me. Man, I wish there were roads around here like that.

Hummus and pita? Not pulled pork and cornbread?
I find this deeply disturbing. |
