Riding Sunday I found a Droid phone along the side of the road. Being a sunny day and with out my glasses I could not tell if it was broken or even turned on. Once home I found it still worked and the screen showed missed calls from "Mom". I texted "Mom" using the phone the phone that I found it and provided my personal cell # for her response. I got a call within 30 minutes and the phone was once again reunited with the owner. It seems the owner was at a party and when helping her mother get into the car must have put the cell phone onto the car's roof.

I've done this numerous times. Sometimes I think they weren't crossing the road so much as sunning themselves. The difference is irrelevant, since the middle of the road is not a good place to work on your tan.

That's why I have a firm rule -- never put anything on the roof. People do that all the time.

Walking through a parking lot last week, there was an almost complete box of donuts in one of the parkways.
That must be the way it got there.

I rode in a little snowstorm a couple days ago and found someone's wallet in the middle of the road; I dropped it off at the Public Safety building front desk.

Some random guy found a fat overstuffed wallet on the road. I only know about it because he used the address on the DL inside it to drive to my house and return it to my wife.

There will always be schmutz.

The one item I have seen gives me pause when I occasionally pass it: 2x4 sheet of corrugated tin. Along a stretch of I-5 and on the other side of the guardrail is decent sized piece. I don't know how it came to be there and I don't want to be around if another sheet comes flying by again...

I think in another 'road debris' thread I posted seeing a shoe, then a bra, then some panties and then a condom wrapper. I never saw the liquor bottle though...

50 bucks and all sorts of smaller bills/change, a diamond engagement ring (I actually found the husband of the owner..he was relieved!), screwdrivers, a leather jacket (fiancée wears it still)... hmm...

Not sure it counts, but my cats were roadside finds too.

I don't stop for anything less than a quarter. Here in Canada, coins are worth stopping for. We no longer have $1 and $2 bills, we have $1 and $2 coins, which are more likely to be dropped than bills, and that don't get blown away by the wind. Tools are great too; the best tool finds were a needle-nose vice grip and a 10mm spanner with a ratcheting end, which I use to this day for brake and fender adjustments.

What a fluke.

So I made a posting in Craigslist:
Found: Nautical Thing

I found something that's nautical in nature. If it's yours, describe it correctly, and you can come pick it up.
I let that run for a while, and got no responses.

BTW, I recently gave it away on the free section of Craigslist. Remember that this is a big anchor. When the guy came to pick it up, I asked "So, how big is your boat?" His reply, "Well, actually it's a canoe."

Thought you were going to end it with ....and we've been together since.

I found a drivers license and mailed it to the address on it with a note saying I found it out riding hwy 35 outside of Prescott, WI. The owner sent back a thank you note along with some gift certificates for one of the bars in Prescott. I haven't used them yet...

Found a lost baby goose. It was over 4th of July weekend and there was a ton of people tubing down the river and hanging out on a sand bar where the geese normally were. All the geese were gone and this little guy was wandering across the path. Dropped it off up river. I hope they made it!
