Nope. I've never been much of a fan of George, but it fits in 50+. Hope you feel in a better mood soon.

How about "George Jones" is on my ipod which I listen to during my "cycling" workouts. I listen to him when I want to use a slower cadence.

There. Fixed the FOO vs 50+ issue.......

I doubt if most of the foosters know who George Jones is. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for this to come up over there.

Yeah, a gentle giant. He was sitting behind me at a Dylan concert a few years ago and i got to say hello and passed a few words with him afterwards. Saw him at Woodstock and at the old Fillmore East.
How about Dr. Sidney Freidman from Mash. Another gentle soul....at least on camera.

For Dudelsack's benefit, I should mention that there already is a Richie Havens thread in Foo, complete with videos. This is the George Jones thread.

George Jones. Wasn't he the dude with the crew cut who was married to Tammy Wynette? I could never see what Tammy ever saw in him. But she's about the extent of my country music listening. ("Our D-I-Veeye-O-R-say-E, becomes fahnul, tuhday!") Oh, and Patsy Kline.

I read the thread title and had a hunch it was this...damn. Like country or not, if you're over 50 and have lived in the USA for any time at all, you've heard something he wrote.

Good solution. I often listen to Margaret Thatcher music during my trainer sessions.... Oh wait, there was no issue raised about that one.

You beat me to it! I was going to mention the Tammy Wynette connection and add that "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" is probably the only song I would ever sing at a karaoke event, (and only after a long bike ride and two glasses of wine).

The only version up on the tube however. I'm liking the older stuff more than most of the new and these old guys are irreplaceable. These new guys can cover guys like Bob Wills, for instance, all they want but they just don't capture the instrumental greatness of that particular band without the original players involved.

Real country is pure Americana. Country was half of the recipe (blues was the other half) that produced Rock 'n' Roll. The pop music with a southern accent coming out of Nashville today is far removed from country. George Jones was country. This one was in my head during my dirt road ride today.

The more you ride your bike, the less your ass will hurt.

Thatcher was called the Iron Lady, and iron goes into steel (I think, I really don't know), and steel is real and way better than the overpriced pieces of plastic that people are addicted to these days.

    So there.

I didn't think Annette or a few other threads belonged here, either, but given the kerfluffle we've had about moderator action, I wasn't going to complain about it.

As it was written in 1Paul 3:16, "If it offends thee, clicketh not."

As for George Jones, I'm jealous oh his hair, but it probably wasn't real.

From the title, I thought this was a thread about how her N+1 became S (the number of bikes which causes your spouse or significant other to leave you). I knew who Mr. Jones was but never heard any of his music. RIP.
And I did it all clean.

I don't usually complain about when someone complains about my complaining.

Anyway, Annette caused my first arousal, and Thatcher my second, but that Jones fellow did nothing for me.
