How to find the used bike I want?
I've found a frame I think I want. Unfortunately, the manufacturer sells only the complete bike - no option for frame only. Additionally, the 2005 paint job is as ugly as a mother-in-law. The 2004 version was beautiful. I'm willing to buy a 2K4 bike and swap parts until I'm satisfied.
The LBS who is the dealer for this brand says they've never had any customer who bought this model ask for an upgrade, and they know of no "new-old-stock" items to be had. The bike make and model are rare, and I've yet to see even a single bike of this make/model show up on e-Bay (much less in my prefered model year and size).
How do I locate such a bike? Suggestions appreciated.

Why don't you tell us what bike / frame / maker you are referring to?

I'd like a 2004 model Kona Dew in 60cm size. The white paint looks great to me, and the compact geometry allows me the top tube length I need in a frame I can still safely stand over.
I'd plan on throwing away ALL the parts on the frame and replacing them with a Campy 9-speed group I have in the closet. The only things I might HAVE to leave are the cantilever brakes (unless I can find some REALLY long-reach, single-pivot, 70's vintage Campy calipers).

Ah.............If I pay for the shipping would you send me ALL those wortless parts instead of throwing them away?
