Snobs? among fly fishers we used to call them "the Gore-Tex hatch".. you ride enough... you'll see more and more faces you've seen before to talk to... just do yer thing and forget about this "ballast" over lack of common social graces. The more you ride, the more you'll find the ones to talk to (some of 'em might be short of breath if they're focus is into "training stuff"...)

You accuse me of saying inflamatory things about DF bikes. Prove me wrong. Just look at all the threads about fit kits and all the people spending big bucks on saddles. Anyone that thinks they can go thru life without being offended needs help.

You say I say inflamatory things about DF bikes. Since I rode them for 59 years I do know a little bit about them. You are free to promote bents your way, just as I am to promote them mine. But the big thing is you and a couple of others resort to personal attacks, that have nothing to do with the thread which is worse??

Do I care that a lot of people blow big bucks on "the kit"--------no it is not money out of my pocket.

Several years ago I posted a thread asking where to ride in Austin when visiting there. Don answered and told me to look him up when I got into town. Don and I have been riding together every time I am in Austin.I ride vintage Trek road bikes (Frankenbikes) and wear bike specific clothes, Don rides with me anyway. I
enjoy every ride we go on, in part because Don is an equal opportunity nice guy.
So if you see us, me on my vintage Trek and Don on his straight bar carbon bike, wave, we will!
Hi Don.

In your last post, you basically called any DF rider who said they ride without pain a liar. I think there are a lot of people who fall into that category. I'm not saying you don't know anything about DF bikes, but just because you were never comfortable (really?), the fact that you extend this to everybody else in the world is quite telling.

Many of the people on this forum don't ride dressed in full kit. And most of them who don't dress that way don't ride recumbent bikes.
I'm not offended by your behavior. I find myself embarrassed (and if you read these threads here as well as on BROL, I am not alone).

If you really think you're promoting 'bents, then, well, I think we're going to have to disagree. If you like being a troll, then, yes, you are doing a good job. I'm starting to realize that I made a mistake giving you the benefit of the doubt and as you are clearly establishing yourself as a troll, I'll worry less about the idiotic things you like to say and just keep on my merry way.

Cheers,
Charles

Had a great time riding around my CF bike in my Chinese kit today. Just for good measure, I sneered as much as possible, while averaging a blistering 13.7 MPH.

Speaking of sneering, some buds and I did the Cruising the Conejo on Saturday (alas, on my aluminum Schwinn). Effin hot (road temp >100), but fun ... especially the beer garden with the India IPA.

Had a chat with one a kitted rider. Turns out he was from my hood and his Mom has been serving up high school food to my miscreant of a son for the last three years.

Carry on!

I ride, I wave....if someone doesn't wave back, I assume he didn't see me or didn't feel like it was safe enough to take a hand off the handlebars.

The vast majority are friendly enough to wave back though. If someone is snobbish when I approach them, five minutes later, it's all good. I've been around, worked in too many states to name, etc, etc, etc and can always make one connection to that person in one way or another. Sometimes, it starts with one, simple, compliment ie "nice bike."

This +, especially the first sentence.

If I do see someone wave or want to say hello but not enough time or not safe enough to wave, I'll nod my head.

I also rode Cruisin' the Conejo. It was hot AND humid--but fun!

Of course nothing as bad as yesterday's first stage of the ATOC. The temperatures were in excess of 100. YIKES!

Please tell me how calling me dumb, stupid, and a troll promotes the point of this thread. I have found that personal attacks usually come from people that cant support their side of the question with logic and facts. IMHO trolls on forums are the people that resort to personal attacks.

At this point I will now longer respond to your attacks so go ahead and have the last word which seems to be your primary aim!

Please note the difference between "you're stupid" and "you said something stupid."

I'm sorry if you think of this as a personal attack. But you insist on saying inflammatory things and then you get upset when people call you on it.

I've seem several threads deteriorate after one of your postings. If this is not your goal, you need to re-evalute your methods. I've been interacting with you for about a year on different forums and you generally seem like a nice enough fellow, but your behavior suggests that either you really don't understand how people perceive your comments, or you understand exactly how people perceive them and (yes, it's the T word again) you're a troll.

Did you give anybody "The Look" when you passed them?

Lol ... good to see a sense of humor.

Interesting thread, eh? The OP starts it off by pointing out the oft-forgotten but true cliche that you can't judge a book by it's cover. That leads to a discussion about what qualifies as a book cover and what doesn't, and another discussion about why the books and the covers aren't relevant ... what really matters is your posture while you're reading it.

Humanity ... it's nothing if it's not interesting.

Helluva guy.
True story. Four or five years ago we had a big icestorm here in SWMO. Saturday AM was just cloudy and about 34. I went for a little ride and while I was out it started misting rain and it had cooled off a couple of degrees so that misting rain was freezing on everything. I stopped at a "C" store for a cup of coffee and a biscuit and gravy. Some little old lady getting out of her car saw me ride up. Her comment: "Oh you poor thing. Did you lose your license?". I guess it was a little unusual for some old bastard to be out riding in the freezing rain without a pressing reason.
