The news of my passing is premature...

I logged on this evening around 6 pm to find that I had passed away! First, let me say that Iím deeply sorry for what appears to be the act of a very troubled young man who was a former student. I am also deeply honored by some of the comments shared. I almost didnít make this post because of embarrassment, but feel a responsibility to set things right sooner versus later. Hereís what weíve been able to discern thus far. It appears that a former student hacked my account (Iím not sure thatís the correct term given he used my laptop computer) and made the post in retaliation for a less than stellar grade given last semester. The irony is that the course was on social deviance, pathology and current trends in treatment. I canít say much more about his situation; there may be punitive repercussions and Iíve been advised to consider legal action. While Iím deeply troubled by the pain this young man may have caused, Iím even more troubled by the internal turmoil that must exist within him. So, once again, I am truly sorry that people I respect were put though something rather unpleasant because of my relationship with another person.

I think Iíll take a few days away from all internet activity and try to think through this whole thing.
A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking. - S. Wright

Thanks for correcting the mis-information before we did something rash, like, oh, having some pie in your honor. Hey, wait a minute...

You know ... with the initials JK ... oh, never mind. Suffice it to say that left some niggling suspicions.

"The irony is that the course was on social deviance, pathology and current trends in treatment."

Lol ... the world's a laboratory for that kind of thing, eh?

Anyway, glad to hear it was a hoax!

Thank god. I read the other post and after getting over the shock, I was hoping it was a hoax. It seemed so unreal to me.

Thank goodness. I'm sorry that this has happened to you, but I am just so elated to find that the news of your demise was grossly premature.

I also quarantined the other thread, so y'all know why it disappeared so suddenly.

Thanks to God, this was a hack of NOS account, or what ever it is called, regardless of the young man's reasons I am just glad to read this post. I'll let NOS and those involved sort this one out and hope this young man is stopped from doing things like this in the future. Just having NOS here is enough for me.

And, now he and Samuel Clemens have something in common, The report of his death was an exaggeration...... to paraphrase the original statement he gave.

So glad to hear this. Something about the original report struck me as odd, which is why I read that entire thread several times to see if there was a correction or explanation. Happy to have you still with us, NOS.

NOS, I am so happy to read you are still with us!!! Not to make light of what was obviously a very upsetting thread for us, but this feels like a movie, where the audience is made to believe the protagonist has perished, and then we find through some improbable twist, he has survived! Well, we are all thrilled to find this happy ending! Yay, NOS!!!

So, when you saw that you had passed way, did you check your pulse, look in the mirror, etc? Glad to hear it wasn't true.
