Bought a pair of cycling shorts key word here is short.They were a clearance sale, 26 bucks.No return.I usually wear baggy style shorts which the leg comes to the top of the knee standing.I did notice these were a little shorter but summer heat is on the way and these would be used on hot days.I tried them out yesterday.They have a liner and padding but the liner stops at the top of the thigh,more like running shorts.Pockets, two in front, one in rear.First problem place anything in the pockets and they pass the bottom leg.Half hour of riding,shorts creep up to my crotch area,black pockets with wallet and cell flapping on my thighs.I'm not big on fashion but this looks ridiculous.whats your recent botched purchase?

Creeping shorts and riding are two things that shouldn't go together. I can't imagine these would feel at all comfortable, a primary requirement for any cycling clothes I wear. Let's see botched cycling purchases? Hmmm, more than once I've purchased inner tubes with valve stems too short for the wheel on which they were going to be used. As a side note, I'll often purchase cycling things at REI or Performance Bicycle knowing that I can return for any reason. At my LBS, they've been very good about returns, and I suspect it's because I'm a pretty regular customer.

Hi,

I wear a knee length pair of cycling shorts underneath a pair
of baggy knee length bathing shorts * with all the pockets you
could ever need. Tight stuff and pockets makes no sense.

The chamois does help on my longer road bike rides, but I
manage fine more than fine up to 15 miles on my folder
in jeans and pretty standard underwear. I've had more
problems on my road bike saddle wise than the good
budget gel rubber sprung saddle fitted to my folder.

Perhaps just quick dry type stuff shorts.

I have an unfortunate bike short story. When I got my first road bike, I quickly realized the need for proper bike shorts but would not invest heavily in them as I was not certain the road bike would be the best type of bike for me. I bought a $25.00 pair of shorts from a clearance rack in Dick's sports. I later bought a pair or two more, all about the same price. They all served me well.

After I had been riding for about five years, I thought I deserved a good pair of shorts and treated myself to a $75.00 pair of PI "Attack" shorts. The first time I wore them, I kept stopping to make minor adjustments on my saddle as I was, um, having trouble. Hmmm. Didn't think much about it. I rode other days, no problem. I must have adjusted my saddle well.
The next time I took a long ride, I opted to wear them as I was sure they would make the ride more comfortable. I realized it was not my saddle, it was the shorts. I understood why they were called "Attack." I've never worn them again. I know a number of riders love PI shorts. Mine are dry rotting in my drawer. I've since bought a nice pair of Terry shorts. Ahhhhhhhhh!

Oh I've made a couple alright but they just aren't as entertaining as Shamrock's. Just finding good old fashioned (there I go again) crochet gloves with thick palms nowadays can be a hunt unless you're willing to pay out $200. . Eleven 81s are OK but, of course, they've stopped making them now......Have given a couple other brands away.

Three pair of Nashbar bibs on sale/closeout - no return allowed was stated on the sale. So, I wear them and they are scratchy where the chamois hits my body. I can't return them, they sort of work OK after I have them on for awhile while riding, I am a cheapo, they are in excellent condition - so I keep wearing them, when I should really get a better set of bibs.

Anyone want to buy a red, and blue and white striped set of 3 bibs? Cheap? Real cheap??

Not a purchase but the other day I snapped my liners back into my mountain bike shorts crooked. Stopped at the trail parking lot and tried to quick change into the shorts next to my car. So I am standing there pantsless struggling to get my shorts over my knees and a couple of guys pull into the lot.

Not my finest moment.

Daisy makes the short you are talking about look good. Why complain.

Tip---buy rugby shorts from Scheels sporting goods. Not as baggy as mountain cycling shorts, and cost less, about $15.

I had bought some baggy mountain bike shorts, and the inside was great, but the outside wore holes after a few rides. So, I ripped out the inside liner, and now they are "underwear" for regular shorts. Works great. Looks like I am just wearing shorts, but with some level of friction protection.

My shirt is an old biking jersey where the zip gave up, so my wife took out the zipper, and sewed it together half way up, looks better than before.

Yeah, well the nearest place I could buy anything is 2 hours away, and nothing is my size given the average Costa Rican is 5' 4" and I am 6' 2" ...
