Boston Mayor Tom Menino to have prostate surgery.
Boston Mayor Tom Menino, a friend to the cycling community, is going in for prostate reduction surgery. This, on top of a host of other ailments that have been plaguing the man for some time. He has announced that he will not run for re-election, which is making the many in the local cycling community wonder what might happen with all the progress
that has been made for cyclists thus far. Any Boston area cyclists care to share thoughts?
God Bless you Mayor Menino. Hope you are on the mend soon.

Hopefully your Mayor will regain his health and remain a viable public spokesman for cycling. And hopefully cycling support has gained enough political momentum to remain a priority there. We have just elected a new mayor who is likely to be much less supportive than previous administrations. But, here at least, there is more in play than just municipal government (like private developers and other entities of government), so I suspect we will keep some progress going. We will see.
