Here's my story.
July 18 2011 heart attack. 4 stents put in.
Started cycling lost 70 lbs.
sept 11 2012: on a ride at a light at major intersection, went into cardiac arrest.
My kid's high school gym teacher and the nurse from my cardiologist's office see me and start CPR.
I spend the next 6 days in a coma at Hahnenam hospital and am released with full cardiac function.
Dec 24 2012: another heart attack followed by quad bypass surgery.
Today: riding 75-100 miles per week with a strong group.
Cycling saved my life.
You will be fine. Trust in God and ride brother ride.
I am 47 years old.

You couldn't breathe at 120 bpm? Is that normal for you?

Yeah, I was really huffing and puffing. That's an issue that has been progressing for at least a couple of years but I've never pegged it to a particular heart rate before. I can tell you the three attractive young women who were supervising my stress test definitely took note. I don't think that's a good thing.

What kind of stress test was it? The treadmill part of my stress test was ok (12min 155bpm) but it was a nuclear stress test and pictures before stress were good, the pictures after stress is were the problem showed up.

They did before and after ultra-sounds of my heart. The test was Friday at noon so I don't know the result yet.

I'll add my best wishes as well. I had my attack last year, March 13'th. 1 stent and I'm doing OK. Not near what I was. But I get by. I tire easily. I ride when I can and have been watching my diet.

I will think of you. You have made my life better knowing you vicariously through here. You're posts make me smile and think some too. Keep us posted on you're progress. The world is a better place with you in it. Best wishes to my favorite Grouch.

Good, I'm glad to hear that you are doing that test, they could have very easily sent me home after a standard stress test and I wouldn't have known there was a problem until I had a major issue.

Good luck with the results!

I'd have posted news if I had any.

Saw the pulmonary doctor Wednesday. She's happy with me.
See the urologist next Tuesday. I'm pretty sure I've got an infection. Have to wait to see what he says.
See the primary on Wednesday, she's been happy with everything she's seen so far. That includes the the stress test results.
See the cardiologist June 26. That might be the interesting one.

I was going to attempt a ride today but chose to do a favor for a daughter. Relatives coming into town this week end. Monday morning is my grand daughter's second driving lesson. That's going to be fun. I had her parallel parking yesterday. We're working on making the car do what she wants before we address driving in traffic. She's a pretty good soccer player so she understands how ball skills contribute to game skills.

A whole new kind of stress test there. I'm glad to hear a dearth of BAD news at least!

I'm glad that no news is good news, I'm keeping you on my prayer list regardless, we need you here, too much RG.

Best of luck with everything Cranky, but esp. your heart! Great read about all the others (above) who have come through this or similar situations. I honestly didn't know heart conditions were this common in cyclists. Regardless, good to rear all the basically good news about the ways in which the health care providers are doing such a good job.
