The ?Well-dressed? Mtn Biker and a New Trail

6 am and 42F with a brisk wind, so I decided to go for a mtn bike ride on the trails where I live. This is how a well-dressed 73 yo mtn biker is supposed to look!!

3 years ago this was just a creek flowing through dry land. Now look at it after the beavers have had their way. Ducks, birds, deer.

This is a trail, just a mile from my home, that I had never taken. Great fun!!

Another pic of the trail.

"Hey, this is MY walk" - these guys just walked down the middle of the trail as if they owned it. I guess they do.

To be joined by even more!! It is hard to get a picture of moving geese while you have to stop, get things out, etc.

I had a GREAT morning ride.

If you appreciate these ride pics, let us know.

Thanks for viewing.

Looks like they turned it in to a bass pond. Nice pics! I love trail riding.

I love seeing the critters along the bike path here. And my favorite thing to do is to ride where I've not been before.

Whether you're comfortable isn't important. What counts is how cool you LOOK....
Seriously, this never stops amazing me. I've been riding more than 40 years, in temperatures from low teens to well past 100 degrees. My bike and clothing are exactly suited to whatever I decide to do. But I can't go on a group or organized ride without somebody telling me what I need or don't need or what will work better or how much faster I'll be once I "upgrade" to clipless pedals or ditch that heavy old Brooks B-17.
Been there, done all that, went back to what works for me. I'm pushing 70 and thankful to be riding at all.

OK - but, actually it is a lightly hooded jersey, and it was windy. However, you have my OK to wear what you want!!

I used to go mountain biking with a group of fellows ever single Saturday of the year. On a 42 degree day one of the guys would have been wearing a winter jacket, winter gloves and a balaclava. One of the other guys - well he always wore bikeing shoes, gloves and a helmet. Sometimes not much else.

No doubt Denver lives in the midst of The Best Biking. Lots of time and money have gone into making it so. Well worth a trip just to do a few rides.

I am forcibly reminded of those restaurant signs: "No shoes, no shirt, no service." They always made me want to go in wearing just shoes and a shirt...

In 35-45 degree (Fahrenheit) weather, my main warming concerns are my neck and my hands. I had an old silk hanky (one of those multicolored ones for you to stuff in your suit pocket) which I use as an under-helmet bandana, and a scarf from I don't know where, which I use to keep my neck covered from chest to chin. For 40 plus weather, I just add my dayglo orange hoodie along with sweatpants and orange t-shirt. For 30-40 degree weather, I add a pair of longjohns and lined long-sleeved sweatshirt. This can keep me comfortable, and I can adjust my heat level by just unzipping the hoodie to a greater or lesser extent.

I always enjoy DnvrFox's pictures. I just hope you are not planning on gracing us with any photos of your former riding companion since it will likely start a heated discussion over the merits of his choice of shoes/pedals and the virtues of helmets, among other things.

Lucky for you I'm not good at posting photos on BF. Dave Bierbaum had to post the photo of Mrs. Grouch in all her muddy glory for me.

Given all that I am wearing - how would one know what I look like? But, thanks, anyways

I could post a picture of me in my swimming suit at the pool - NOPE - you wouldn't want to see that!
