Keep Your Head On A Swivel

Nothing new. Just a reminder that there are a lot of drivers who do unexpected and dangerous things.

The latest was a bicycle driver who made a sudden change in direction, cutting across traffic. Fortunately, by looking around saw him coming and was able to evade. Otherwise there would have been a dent in a very low mileage and pristine condition car. Probably more than a dent in the bicycle driver. He would have also been upset at the traffic citation and repair bill he received.

Only takes one to avoid a collision.

I watched one last evening. I was approaching an intersection as a young girl (texting) was approaching from the right. She appeared to want to hurry through the stop sign so she wouldn't have to wait on me but didn't realize there was a car coming from the other way. She T-Boned an older lady's Oldsmobile right into a fire hydrant. No one seriously hurt but the discussion was getting serious as I was leaving, the older lady found out the young lady did not have insurance. Glad the cops were there.

Been awhile back but a drunk (I assume) on a bicycle leaving a bar enters the crosswalk just as my light turns green and comes out from in front of another car in the next lane (where I couldn't see him coming) right in front of me as I'm doing about the speed limit, in my pickup, approaching the green light.

I locked them down and just barely stopped in time. Very lucky nobody was behind me. Boy did I yell the business to him. And he heard me alright. His face was red as a beet....probably partly from embarrassment and partly because he was sober enough to realize that he almost got killed.

Good message. Too bad the bicycle driver couldn't read your suggestion. He was too busy weaving in and out of traffic.

Do cyclists drive or ride a bicycle?

Drivers are behind a steering wheel driving a car and cyclists are "behind" handlebars riding a bicycle--like motor cyclists!

Irresponsibles are everywhere doing all kinds of things unimaginable!
