T R X for cross training - anyone else?
I have been using the TRX for about 1 year now, with just 4 "basic" exercises
chest pull
biceps pull
inverted row
pushups
But am now trying to expand a bit.
Here is one I found - jump squat and pull - (the INet has many - I just haven't tried many others yet) - it is the top one of the exercises listed.

Denver, I never even saw one before I use an in-home Powerline system for some of my cross training.

I don't really know what the acronym stands for, but it is the very LATEST - at least up to today - in exercise fads.
Basically, it is 2 strong adjustable straps with hand and foot loops and handle that you hang from a high or ceiling mount and use your own body weight to do an almost infinite number and variety of exercises. Cheap and travels with you.
I like it - it DOES work out your body.

Last year I took a weekly class in TRX Suspension Training from September to May at our local rec center. It's very effective, very simple, and if you know what you're doing, it will strengthen every part of your body. In particular, there are some real good exercises you can do that significantly add to your core strength which I understand is important for cycling.
What makes it so effective (in my opinion) is that you can easily adjust the intensity of the resistance while actually doing the reps in most cases. If you find that you can handle more, you can dial it up, or dial it back a bit if you start out being too aggressive.
In addition, I found it to be one of the most enjoyable exercise regimens I've ever done.
I would strongly suggest taking a class if you're a member of any kind of YMCA or community recreation center or gym that offers them. you will get a much better and more complete workout with an instructor calling the moves. We probably did a total of 12-15 different moves throughout a 50-minute class.
Our instructor (a middle-aged blond lady about 5'2" and 110 lbs) works with us, and one day last year she really took things up a notch by having us stop and hold for a 5-count at several different points through the range of motion on each move. The class was on a Monday, and I was so sore that I couldn't get up from a sitting position without grunting and groaning until Friday! When I mentioned this the next week she admitted that she too was sore for a few days after that workout!
Alas, I have a conflict with that class both nights that it's offered, so I can't start taking it again until the end of October, but will be signing up for it again as soon as I can.

TRX Force, three month program really works quite well. Made me much stronger and more comfortable on the bike. Now I just use the TRX app and do their random work out generator. I love it. Might try yoga this winter just to see if I like it. Been down the road of nautilus, free weights etc. Crossfit is not for me but have seen incredible results in others.

Good for you Denver. I have had one for 3 years now and use most of the exercises and stretches they publish. Planks are pretty tough on them getting started but all those micro muscle adjustments to stay balanced are very effective. It is easy to overdo the achilles so keep an eye on that.
Oh, as a guy who spends 1/3 of his life in hotel rooms, it does travel well but you need the door kit.
I use it in the garage with a mat on the floor. Have to take down a few bikes to use it but there it is..

I use TRX stuff a lot and think it's excellent. You can do a wide variety of exercises, balanced. Body position affects "weight". SImple, effective.
I use it as part of a "boot camp" type of training group I'm in 2-3 times per week. I really enjoy it, and generally don't like indoor workouts. If the coaches are good - well trained and savvy to individual limitations and modifications, and are good at avoiding injuries by their students - its an excellent full body program. Much better than what I've been doing the past few years: XC skiing and basic core training in the winter, bicycle, hiking and core training in the summer. The boot camp stuff is much better -and I still ride and ski, much stronger with both.

I belong to Equinox gym and we have full range of equipment and personal trainers. We have three TRX stations available at all times and the aerobics room can be set up with 15 TRX stations for a group workout led by an instructor. I use the TRX for a couple of exercises.

I've been doing yoga since the first of this year. Don't judge by your first experience, as I find that different instructors will significantly change the experience. I'm amazed at the effect it's had on my flexibility. Depending on the approach and the style of yoga, it can be an hour of just really good stretches, or it can be a very challenging routine of continual movement that can provide cardio and/or strength-building elements.
I just started a PiYo class last night - a combination of Pilates and yoga. Had me sweating like a pig within 10 minutes.
