Just a tiny bit of gloating . . .

After my single track this morning, I rode my mtn bike w/panniers and my back pack to Sprouts for some fruit. Got about 30 lbs, which included cantaloupe, etc. and fully loaded the bike and back pack up.

There was a dad and a 12-year-old son also on bikes in the store and we happened to be loading our bikes at the same time - they just had a little. I noticed a bit of a "You are a really old guy" attitude from them, despite my attempts at being friendly.

So, they left a bit before me, taking the same trail. However, I caught them and zoomed by them uphill like a bat out of he!! and did I give them THE LOOK!!

Probably just a figment of my imagination, but it WAS fun!!

To Toot or not to Toot. That is the question. Hoisted upon the horns of a dilemma.

Maybe it's because I'm something of an A-hole, but I would have been wishing for an old tomato to casually toss over my shoulder as I passed.

One has to take success where one finds it. There were no tractors on the road, but I did pass a bridge!!

Well, in that same spirit I am proud to report that on today's ride I dropped several trees and a few rocks like they were just standing still. YAY me.

You've got to take your cat 6 wins where you can get them. I remember old Grandpa Foxy (he of Foxy Fall Century fame) in Davis back in the '80s only considering the Tuesday Night time trial fun if he beat all the females. I'm not sure he ever did truly "have fun" since there were always a few very fast women who showed up.

Come on there is hardly anything an old grandpa likes more than Fast Women.

I told my son that the only time he ever beat me up a hill was when I had cancer in me. It's been gone for three years and my son has been in North Carolina. So... I told him that the next time we ride, he should prepare to watch me ride away from him.
