The Little Miami Bike Trail can take you from east of Cincinnati up towards Xenia Ohio which is close to Dayton. The H-Connector Bikeway goes from Xenia to Dayton. I believe that it's two bike paths that join together.

Make sure you stop for ice cream at Young's Jersey Dairy in Xenia.

There is also the Great Miami River trail which goes directly into Dayton, but there are incomplete segments of the trail where you would have to find your way on road.
I rode this trail from Franklin to Miamisburg last month.

This is a great ride. My wife and I are planning to go from Columbus to Xenia and pick up the Miami Trail from there and head to Cincinnati that way. It adds quite a few miles to the ride coming from Columbus, but it will be even more enjoyable.

I've ridden the Dayton spur. It seems safe enough.

There is an extensive system of bike trails in Dayton but they don't all connect to each other, so you'll want to plan your route carefully.

BTW, they will send you a map of the trail system for free if you ask them nicely.
