Did a ride with an old friend yesterday.

I took my beater bike down to the Katy Trail for the first time since I broke my hip. I was happy with how the now higher handlebar felt on my back and neck and the longer crank didn't upset my hip very much. I love that old bike.

It was nice to just do a carefree ramble for a couple of hours. I chatted with a couple of folks that i met on the train and fixed a flat tire for a woman - even paid it ahead using my own spare inner tube.

About 20 miles was all that my body wanted to do. In fact, when I got back to my car, I had to get off by laying my bike on the ground. All-in-all a good day.

Great - really great - to see your progress.

Someday I will get to the Katy Trail. But not for awhile, I fear!

Great post. Good to see you back on the bike. I need to make it down to the Katy trail one of these days as well. I'll bet it's very fine in the fall. Maybe even over Thanksgiving if it's not too cold.

I am so glad to read this, Retro. It means the recovery is almost completed. I am sure cycling life in general seems much more enjoyable now than it has been for a long time.

Thanks for posting this. It's the type of riding that speaks to my view of what a good quality of life is.
