I'm sure I could go even faster - if I rode off a 3000' cliff!

What is the terminal velocity of a falling human body? Not in stable skydive position... Let's say on a bike...

I want to ride at a good clip, but i do not think I ever want to go 83 mph with the limited protection I would have in case of crash. If I died my wife would kill me!

I read somewhere the the terminal velocity of a human body in uncontrolled free fall is about 180 mph. That is from my army days when they were asking for volunteers to jump out of a perfectly good airplane and depend on an unknown parachute. Like the old saying goes, you don't need a functional parachute to skydive, you only need it if you want to do it a second time.

And he passed an old man in thick glasses driving a jalopy, blowing his hat off. The man was heard to yell, "ROADHOG"!

I wonder how big the dog was that was chasing him.

That's pretty impressive and must have been quite the experience being that low to the ground and moving that fast.

I wonder what some of the drivers that hate cyclist for "blocking" their road would say if they were out on the Interstate and a bike passed them doing 83???

I suspect it may be higher than the airspeed velocity of an African sparrow (not carrying coconuts of course)

African Swallow, not sparrow. And speed was no the issue of the swallow, it was carrying capability. 'A five ounce bird cannot carry a one pound coconut.'...

Maybe close to 1 hp at peak speed
One very fit human
How big was the pilot?
He was a sprinter of some sort I guess?
Fair sized people-not road racer size(140 lbs) is my bet

First - I'm not a horse, so horsepower is irreverent.

So... in personpower, that human-powered speed-feat is simply amazing!

OK-how many watts?
Watt was a human,so watts should be more relevant.
But I agree-it is spectacular
