Opinions on different trainers?
Anyone have experience and opinions on different trainers. I've never used one and I'm new to cycling this year.
I'm looking at the
Kurt Kinetic fluid road machine (with or without the extra flywheel),
the Cycleops fluid 2,
and the 1UP USA Bicycle Trainer.
I'll be using my 1970 Raleigh 10 speed on it. The rear wheel is held on with nuts.
Any thoughts on ease of use, noise, reliability, quality of workout, etc? I'll hopefully also be riding this same bike on the road this winter when possible.

They're all good and easy to use. Not sure about the rear wheel with nuts vs a skewer. I've had the Cycleops and the KK. The KK is awesome and if you have the money, go for the KK Rock and Roll.

Yes, I've got a "sufferfest room"!! Last year I picked up a Cycleops fluid 2 trainer after my OLD magnetic trainer died from neglect. There is no comparison between the two. The resistance from the Cycleops fluid trainer is very smooth and linear. It gives a very "road like" feel. As the fluid heats up the resistance gradually begins to increase. It has a flywheel so you have that sense of momentum buildup. Never felt the need for a larger flywheel. Noise is never an issue, don't even think about it.
Since the Cycleops is so smooth a linear, it got lot's of use last winter. Hope on the bike, turn on the tunes or TV and ride. Indoor trainers of any kind are a love hate relationship!!!! mostly hate!
PS:
No matter which trainer you get, I would recommend using a old or inexpensive tire on the back roller. the tire will quickly develop a flat spot where it meets the roller and be useless for anything else.

I have the money for the KK but probably not the KK Rock and Roll. Is it really that different. I'm not a racer...just a recreational rider.
How quickly does the flat spot develop? It sounds like a pain the have to change the back tire every time I want to switch from trainer to outdoor riding.

I have the KK, Kurt Kinetic, Road w/ pro flywheel. I bought it since I was getting annoyed with all the days that I couldn't ride because of rain during last winter. I'm not sure you really need the flywheel--it does make the wheel take longer to spin down, so closer to realistic coasting to a stop on a flat road. The KK Road is a well built machine and since the fluid is in a closed system, it is very unlikely you will get a leak(Fluid has magnets in it and sealed and the drive has opposite magnets to move the fluid and create resistance--so the drive and resistance medium are physically separated and sealed.).
If you are on wood floors, even though they unit has feet, I recommend a mat to set the trainer on. I also have a fan blowing on me so I don't drip much sweat and also moves air over the cooling fins of the KK.

If you are switching back and fourth between trainer and bike, I don't think flat spotting will be a issue. When it becomes a problem is as in my case, I leave my road bike on the trainer from November thru the middle of March. After a few 100 miles the flat spot begins to develops.

BTW, the skewer that comes with the trainer is stronger than the skewer that came with the bike. The skewer, when used on a trainer, experiences much greater forces than when riding on the road.

Fan is good idea - my wife got me one for Christmas last year. When I opened the gift box I discovered that the fan blade was 2" diameter. That was good for a laugh. Maybe this Christmas I'll get a real fan.
