Get some shatterproof glasses if you really are serious about riding. Think what could have happened if that rim has hit an eye, or your jugular, rather than your nose.

+1

My glasses are polycarbonate. I got quite a bit before I started riding, but occasionally do use power tools and wanted the protection.

To repeat what I wrote on the "New Bike" thread: Now that the soreness is pretty well gone and the nose is mostly healed up, I have been replaying this incident in my mind. I am most reluctant to say it, but I now firmly believe that what happened to me was a deliberate act on the part of these boys. I will be watching them very closely from now on and, should there be a repeat or attempted repeat of the incident, the police will be involved. And, yes, I will prefer charges.

To tell the truth, I am more concerned about the backlash I will get from Mom and Dad when I put their little darlings in juvenile hall than I am about the little darlings. But I can also deal with Mom and Dad.

Now, I know some of you are going to ask how I arrived at my conclusion. Very simply this; have you ever heard of the "Knockout Game"? I suspect that these two were looking to do something similar.

Knockout game? Never heard of it. However, we have some teenagers in the community who used to play a lot of MAILBOX BASEBALL....until one of the local athletes incurred a compound fracture and nearly lost his arm, and did lose his scholarship.

Semper paratus indeed. Why do I have the feeling you did the seventeen miles AFTER the accident?
